Not Ready For Exam – Should I take it anyway?

    Hi, all!

So, tax season got the better of me (again) and I need to take REG by 07/01 and I know I won’t be close to ready. I am going to have to pay again and I have come to terms with that. Should I sit for it anyway even though I know I am not going to pass?

After over a year of Becker & Becker, I just don’t have the time for the lectures, MC and reading that is required to cover all the material. I know that all of you are probably rolling your eyes about now but really, who has time for all of it and actually absorb it all? My hat is off to those that can!

Can I get by with reading my Becker & Becker text book, Flash Cards from Wiley and MC from Wiley or am I not being realistic? I need to switch it up and putting together a plan.

Does anyone know of a good podcast or podcasts that cover topics of the CPA Exam? Not tips to get through it which are helpful but actual review of concepts?

Thank you to anyone who can send me in the right direction with the above topics.

    Sincerely,

    Liz

I would crank out those Becker mcq and SIMS immediately. Try and get through all of them because it will make a difference. I understand, busy season got the better of me too. But you have one and a half months. I think that is more than enough time to actually read/take notes from the Becker materials. You don't necessarily have to watch the lectures but definitely try the skills practices.

I think you should still take REG. If you fail, you can just take it again. Give it all you’ve got this time around, and continue to study after taking the test in case you have to re-take in Q3. I agree with Iam2848; Work through all the MCQs, and also look at the SIMs and the answers to understand the solutions.

7/1 is a month and a half away. I think there is still a way to try to get reasonably ready. Focus on studying and you might get there, or at least reschedule further into July if you have to…

1.5 months is what I'd say JUST enough to prepare for REG.

Hit the MCQs hard a solid 36 or so at a time.
    Review those questions.
Take note of the questions you got wring and why.
Take note of the questions you got lucky on/guessed and got correct.

    Start over again.

I agree with everyone else, There is enough time, unless you are a picky or slow/casual student. I am picky, in that, I like to read or listen, take notes, then do mcq's. If I just jump into mcq's blind I don't feel comfortable (and I get so many wrong ). So it definitely depends upon how you learn and study. But if you get into it, a month and a half might be enough. Another thought is to reschedule if you have time on your nts.

    It begins with a 75
Been here too long as a cheerleader....ready to pass
