Board-designated is unrestricted. Restrictions that show up on the various categories are ones that are established by someone outside of the organization, and the Board counts as part of the organization. So, if a donor gives money with a restriction on its use, that's temp till it's used; however, if the Board decides to use it a certain way (Board-designated), that's still unrestricted, since the Board is part of the organization.

So even though fund is to be used on the subsequent year, it will remain under unrestricted category until used?

Hmm, currently reviewing the NFP chapter actually. Who is designating for the fund to be used in the subsequent year?

    The board – unrestricted

The donor/TP – temporarily restricted, then when the subsequent year comes, take it out to TRNA and put it into UNA, then expense.
