New sims theory…

Maybe its because I’m bored and waiting for the new test scores to come out but I have a theory about the new sims. I understand that the AICPA has explicitly stated that the sims are not adaptive but I have think there is something new going on with the grading of the sims. I’m not positive if they are necessarily “adaptive” but does anyone else think that its weird that they are separating the sims into seperate testlets like the multiple choice? I honestly would not be surprised if the new sims were adaptive and this is part of the new system that they are trying to test…this post is just for fun so don’t take it too seriously but I’d be interested to hear your thoughts.

I would believe it. Or, if they're not adaptive now, I believe AICPA is moving towards that in the future. Maybe in 5 years, the next big change will be that sim testlets are officially adaptive.

When you get different testlets, you don't know what you have coming in the next one and have to budget your time properly. That's why I ended up rushing the second simulations testlet and ended up with more time than I needed for the last one. They wouldn't be lying if they already explicitly said they are not adaptive, though.

They did it to give people more opportunities to take a break, but how many people who take the exams do really take all those break opportunities especially when time counts against them? Probably not many.

But my own hunch is they they separate it under testlets is to screw people over and of course to fail more people. AICPA has nothing to gain for hiding whether or not they or adaptive or not.

I don't think so. I think everybody taking the test on the same day get the same sims. I took the test on the same day and time as two other people I know and we all got the exact same sims. Seems like that would suggest they are pre-assigned. Also I am almost positive I did strongest on my audit MCQs and those were my easiest sims.

    This is making me nervous.

After writing 4 sections in Q1 of 2017, and thought that I at least passed 2-3 sections right after the exams, which to my great shocked, my final Q1 results showed scores in the 50s for all 4 sections. They were the worst scores since I have been sitting for CPA exams.

Anyway, putting the nightmares behind, paid for new NTS for all 4 sections again. Hoping better results for the ‘new CPA exam format, more like a trial run. These 4 NTSs are good Q3 & Q4.

    Sigh…feeling really nervous.

Thanks for the CPA exam updates guys, sure appreciate them.
