New REG Exam

I have just recently heard from a colleague of mine that if you have already taken REG and failed, that if you take it again in 2019 they will give you the old test and not the new test with the new exam material. Does anyone know if this has any truth to it? She said she heard it from her Becker CPA Review course.

I have not heard this, and to tell you the truth it seems pretty unlikely to me. It would seem inherently unfair to be giving two versions of the same exam simultaneously. Per the AICPA's last press release on this subject matter,
-“The Exam will continue to test candidates on the tax laws and regulations in effect before the enactment of the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act through the 18Q4 test window ending on December 10, 2018. The Exam’s Authoritative Literature will continue to include (through December 10, 2018) the Internal Revenue Code as published before the enactment of the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act. In accordance with existing policy, there will be a simultaneous introduction of content related to the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act and removal of content related to the previous tax law.”

-Granted, this press release was in February, but I feel fairly confident if any definitive changes were made to this, it would have been updated.

I haven't heard anything like that.. but it'd be a slight relief if it's true!
