Am I misunderstanding something or are the new format Q2 exam results being held until august? This is so unfair and ridiculous. So if you have one exam left you have to wait 4 months for results and could potentially lose other credits? This is ridiculous!!!!

Yes, the q2 exams are supposed to be released mid august. Yes it stinks. Yes its been discussed for over 6 months here. Only a very few handful of states have announced an extension of exam credits.

My educated guess based on watching for six years is they gave august as a worst case scenario and hope to release scores sooner but won't say that publicly. WHEN the scores ultimately get released, they will likely extend credits either 1 or 2 testing windows depending on how long it actually takes them to release scores. They're vicious and sadistic but not going to screw anybody out of a passed exam because of this.

thank you @MLA!!! I hope we do get extensions that would be so unfair if not. I would be taking potentially my last exam in q2. Either way its a bummer we have to wait so long. I'm getting tired of telling people I'm studying for this exam, especially because my family is old school Italian and think the CPA exam is part of college lol.

I'm guessing by your name you're from Boston? I'm a bit north of Boston, go Pats! Somebody called in to Matty in the Morning yesterday on Kiss 108 and said they just found out they passed the whole exam, and I wondered if it was someone here……

haha no way! I live in Saugus, we are neighbors. IT seems like you have been licensed for some time, do you think it helped a lot career wise?

Ahhh Saugus, not the same without the Hilltop 🙁 at least they're keeping the sign (for now……..)

Yes I think it helped. I was in my early 40's when I got licensed and a mom to two teenagers. I knew what type of job I wanted to settle into for the last 2 decades of my career, small growing business where I was basically the sole point of contact for all things finance admin, grow with the company and bring new folks in, end up with a staff of 3-4 people and then retire LOL. It seemed even small businesses wanted the CPA credential not because it helped to do the job but just because at least half of the people who applied to this type of position happened to have one so it became the line in the sand. I could have easily done this job without a CPA but I might not have had the opportunity.

The market is getting increasingly competitive. At the end of the day I would rather be working a job I enjoy, its great you found that. There's nothing worse than working in an office with low morale that you don't enjoy. I have to say the amount of accounting knowledge I've gained from studying for these exams is about 10X the amount of accounting knowledge I had coming out of college.

my FAR expires on November 4th.

so assuming that I didn't pass BEC today – my final part, i'll be able to take the new exam in Q2 and Q4, but lose Q3 because of how long they are taking to release scores..

am I understanding this correctly? if so, is there anything I can do (im in California).

this seems incredibly unfair to me and everyone else in my position… unless im somehow mistaken, we are only given 5 windows, while everyone else gets 6..

From what I've heard, if you would have likely passed within the 18 months were it not for the delay (ie, you had 3 sections complete, took the 4th failed, and your window expired in summer) “most” accounting boards will consider this and extend your window one additional quarter on a case-by-case basis. At least that's what AICPA hinted at in their web conference video.

I'm in a different situation. I have plenty of time on my 18 months, but my 1 year CPA bonus from the firm I work for will expire if I don't pass in the next window (I would've been allowed 2 windows if it weren't for the delay). I could be out $2K from the delay. It's just more motivation to pass the first time.

Either way, it's a bummer, but they seem to have good reasons for the delay–sort of. Maybe they can bring in external consultants/labor temporarily to bring the 10 weeks down to 6?

@RobertJason I was thinking the same thing. I can receive a bonus if I pass all exams before my start date. With taking the remaining two exams April & May I am losing an entire testing window if I am unsuccessful. Just horrible. I am praying they can release them a little earlier.

On the bright side I can enjoy my summer without having to study… but still not knowing my scores will kill me.
