I am planning on starting very soon studying for Regulation. It is my first test so I am hoping that I would pass the first time. I have decided to go with Becker and supplementing with Ninja McQ. I have now the Gliem book and was going through it and found the wording is hard and not easy. I am that kind of person that likes few sentence and a numeric example to understand the concept. Any strategies that help with that weakness? Would Becker and Ninja MCQ be good with that kind of weakness? I have two month of preparing before the test. I will try to study 5 hours a day.

Good luck – getting started was the hardest part for me. What section are you taking first? Are you working? If yes, 5 hrs a day may be too much. As far as learning better with numerical examples – I don't think that's a weakness. That's just how you learn, and I'd imagine many others learn the same way. I didn't use Becker nor Ninja but tailor whatever you are using around what makes sense for you. If you learn with numbers, make sure you are doing mcqs after every new section so you can apply what you are learning.

Thanks jdn9201 for your reply. I am planning on starting with REG first. And yes I am working but was planning on reducing working hours so I will probably end up with two days of work but also I have two kids. I don't know how realistic is the five hours a day with their activities.

Good Luck Nahla! I think it is a great idea to tackle REG or FAR first because they are very heavy in computation and one of the longer sections! Every minute toward studying counts.

Good luck on getting started with the exam. What I have found works best, at least for me, is to go through the sections normally using the material given (I'm currently using Becker self study) and make mental notes or jot down sections that you are have really struggled on or don't feel comfortable with. Then go online and do a google search or youtube search for these topics to find a different video on the topic. I have found that sometimes it takes just hearing a topic in a different way or from a different person and it will seem to click most of the time.

I typically will go through the lectures, answer the multiple choice sections (without answering the “Optional Practice Questions”), then do half of the simulations for that chapter. Once I have gone through all the material, I will look back at the sections that I struggled on, find new videos or other pages to explain the topics I'm struggling with, then go back through the Optional Questions and remaining simulations. Once these are all done, I basically do as many progress tests as time allows.

I will also take the practice exams for Audit about a week and a half before the test, and then a couple days before the test, spending the remaining time using note cards, answering MCQ's and doing some simulations on the areas I'm really struggling with.

It all just depends on what works for you. I changed my strategy after failing the AUD exam the first time and have found a successful pattern for me and have stuck to it as I move through the rest of the tests.

    Good luck Nahla,

I started with REG as well. Im not sure about using 3 different review programs as Becker will have you very busy. My strategy was to go over each chapter until I knew it. Then review, then do a rapid review just before the exam. You will be surprised how much you pick up on your 2nd and possibly 3rd reviews. I found Becker to be very good for REG.

    REG Aug 20/15: 88
    AUD: Feb 29/16: 80
    FAR: Jun 10/16: 80
