Does this happen to you? I repeatedly told her I only passed the exam and it’ll be another 15 months or so minimum (cause AK is 2 years work experience minimum duh) before getting my CPA license.

Whenever we meet people she tells them I’m a CPA. Obviously this is untrue and I wonder if there’s a legal issue when being called a CPA. I’m sure there is.

My mom’s more excited than I am about being a CPA. How about you guys? Anything similar?

Haha! I don't think it's illegal. She is proud of you. Just say yes I have passed the exams, but I still have to complete the experience requirement if it is a situation that matters. Hardly anyone understands this entire process. Even the people closest to us. Congrats on the exams…

Haha my mom did the same thing, and after a few corrections she started telling anyone who would listen (and everyone that wasn't listening, for that matter) that I had passed the exams but was NOT a CPA yet, just waiting on the paperwork to go through. She was just proud of me and wanted to brag. 🙂

I think as long as you aren't putting yourself out as a CPA and correct anyone who thinks that you are, you're good to go. And your mom still gets to brag about you. 😀

My brother became a doctor two years ago and I became a CPA last year. We were on food stamps when we were children. Mom is definitely happy.
