I am using CPA excel to study for the AUD exam and I am about half way through the material.I find that a lot of the MCQs ask questions that are not covered in the text. I am wondering what other people have found to be the most effective use of their study time while studying for AUD. Should I just use the MCQs or keep reading the text as well?

When you mean text, do you mean the textbook or the video lectures and slides? I only ask because I too am using Wiley CPA excel and gave up on the video lectures and slides as they are a condensed version of what the text has to offer and never usually contain all the necessary information required to answer the MCQs. Also, I found that some of the concepts are somewhat out of order in AUD on CPA excel. For example, I noticed the SIMS and MCQs will cover topics before they are actually covered in some instances (one or two modules later). I did not see this in the BEC section of CPA excel however.

    BEC: 7/31/16 (Awaiting Results)
    AUD: 9/8/16
    REG: 10/22/16
    FAR: 12/3/16

I also felt the same when I was using the CPA Excel software. After half way through what I started doing was I would go straight to the MCQ in study mode and do them and read the descriptions on the one I would get wrong. Then I would go back and read the text. (Never watched the video they are too boring for me) After that I would do the MCQ in normal mode again.

But honestly the best thing to do is get through it and start doing MCQ over and over. And if you haven't yet get the Ninja MCQ. They are much better and it will help you learn a lot more. Specially those little stuff CPA Excel doesn't go over.

Finding DeMo- I only do the reading because like you and almost everyone else I find the videos very boring and can't even pay attention after the first few minutes. I have noticed that the MCQs and text have a lag in the information but also I feel like the MCQs get into more detail than the text provides.

mohit30- I am thinking that I will just read straight through the rest of the text and then just bang out MCQs until test day. I did use the Ninja MCQs for BEC and I think they helped alot, I will most likely get them once I have gone through all of the CPA excel questions. Also I have the Ninja Audio that I listen to on the way to and from work every day, I am hoping that helps some.

Thanks to the both of you for responding.

I would also recommend getting the Wiley Focus notes from Amazon, if you need some quick reading to do once you finished. I never went through the text book Wiley has but reading the notes seems to be really good to just refresh on some old topics and focus on the ones you may have trouble with.
