Continual practice with governmental seemed to help me understand all the concepts. Governmental accounting is tricky because a lot of people never had a class in college in that particular subject, so I totally feel your pain.

For me personally, knowing the classification of funds and their accounting basis and measurement focus has helped out a ton with the MCQ.

OMG…I know people say govt/nfp is easy but it was so hard for me. The questions seem simple but then I get them wrong a lot of the time!!!! I don't like the way becker presented the material for govt/nfp either. I find myself memorizing the vocabulary but not understanding the material fully. Every hard subject (Pensions, Leases, Bonds, Deffered taxes) I ended up getting eventually. NO matter how many times I tried reviewing govt/nfp it wouldn't click. It definitely had to do with the fact that I wasn't taught governmental and nfp in school. Actually, I chose not to be taught govt.nfp (god i wish i could go back in time) During my advanced accounting class our last chapter was on those topics and we had the option of dropping one test…well I chose to drop my final exam in those areas because I did well in the class and wanted to play hookie my last week of college. Now I am really kicking myself over that decision. Maybe I should supplement for that topic (that is if I find out I didn't pass far) But i would try your best to either supplement or continue practicing. These are heavily tested!!

If there is anyone still in college reading this I advise you to take a class in governmental accounting and non for profit accounting!!!! Or at least go to the lecture like I should have….
