It’s me again! So I’m less than a month away from test day and I’m freaking out. I feel like nothing is sticking and my trending score is lower than I would like it to be. I’m putting in the hours and I’m going through MCQs, taking notes, and going through some flashbards, but I’m not even sure what to do at this point. Should I work on simulations at all during these next 4 weeks or should I just MCQ it up until my eyes bleed? Will it eventually stick?

What is your current trending score? What are your study habits? If it were me, being a month away and nothing sticking, I would pound out MCQs since that is how I learn best. Reading the book might be a good idea too, take “big picture” notes – seeing the big picture can help clear up some of those little details that confuse you. Don't just know the right answers, know WHY the answers are right and know why the others are not. I read the Becker FAR book about 3 times, took new notes on it everytime, and did every MCQ probably 5 times each. Didn't spend a ton of time on SIMs. FAR is a ton of material and remember feeling overwhelmed both times I studied for it, but if you spend enough time with it things will begin to click.

    FAR - 80
    AUD - 82
    BEC - 80
    REG - 85

    ETHICS - 90
    EXPERIENCE - COMPLETE

Everybody is different. I am a very visual learner and have a bad habit of memorizing MCQs. I have taken F*A*R*&%$ 6 times and have always scored higher on MCQ and Weaker on SIMS. To me, SIMS really helps nail down what you know and what you have only memorized. I'm taking the bloody thing for the 7th time on Thursday and have really concentrated on SIMS. Hopefully, this will be enough to let me finally put FAR to rest.

I also wrote myself a FAR Fairy Tale featuring a boy named GAAP and his faithful dog, IFRS. It's pretty funny; now to illustrate it 😉

Good luck all of us FAR-takers!

    AUD 88 (expired), 80 retake
    FAR 64,69,67,73,67,73,73,73, August 3
    REG 75 (expired) September 7
    BEC 72, 77

    The adventure continues...

My current trending score is in the sad range 40-50 =( =( I study an hour before work, during lunch, 2 hours afterward and 3-4 hours on each day of the weekend. Reading the book does nothing for me because I can read it over and over and still not know what happened. I dose off. I also listen to the audio on the way to work. I'm better and understanding MCQs and why they're wrong when I'm doing them, but with so much information and getting mixed up when I should do certain things is incredibly frustrating and overwhelming. I second @536Frenchmen when it feels like I never passed kindergarten. When I think I know it, I don't and vice versa. It's just not “sticking.” I just don't know what to do and I haven't even looked at the sims.
