    Hello everyone,

    Time for my daily rant. I did approximately 150 MCQ for FAR, and I am in my final review (take the exam on 6/10). There really isn’t the time to p go back and re-learn this stuff, and I do feel I gave ample study time throughout the process; however, now that I’m reviewing, I am scoring terrible on these sets of 20 (55-60%), and I just feel that I’m mindlessly spitting out MCQs. Any suggestions? And please don’t say re-reading the Gleim book, since there truly isn’t time. 🙂

    I have been using Becker and used Gleim for a grad class and honestly a LOT of the questions are 100% the same.

    Were the exam questions easier than Gleim or Becker for FAR? I found the exam questions for BEC, while not easy, were easier than Gleim's questions.

    I took FAR yesterday and while some of my MCQ were very straightforward some were super complex.

    could you be focusing too intently on number of questions answered rather than really understanding what the question is asking? When I first start final review, I've gotten really bad %'s and then realized I wasn't really reading the whole question – like not noticing Company A purchased the bonds on July 1 instead of Jan 1. stupid-in-a-hurry-mistakes and not “you don't understand anything” errors.

    The thing with Gleim is that they mix in publisher adapted/enrolled agent/cma/cia questions in their TB, vs I think is only CPA questions in Ninja. BUt I have seen all of the testbanks, and they all do pretty much use the same questions, but some of the explanations are laid out differently.

    AUD - 1st - 60 (12/12), 61 (2/13), 61 (8/13), 78! (11/15)

    BEC - 71(5/16) Retake (9/16)

    @livealittle,

    That does happen some, but I feel a large part of it is the feeling of forgetting. I'm not going to give up, but that was certainly a wake up call.

    I am having the same struggles with what to do…test is 6/10 and every question looks like greek. My % are horrible in terms of enough to pass, so I am asking the same question, Just keep doing the mcq's and making sure I understand why an answer is correct or incorrect?

    It begins with a 75
    Been here too long as a cheerleader....ready to pass

    @tncincy,

    I know EXACTLY what you are saying! I've tried too. I don't think condensing the study timeframe would have been a wiser choice, although I've forgotten a lot of material.

    @Excel14, I was in the same position as you when I took FAR. I studied for over a month and left myself 3 weeks to review. As I started to review all the material I felt like I forgot everything. I started to google the topic and that's how I actually found this forum.

    What I did, using CPAExcel, was going through each lesson and doing the MCQs. If I scored a 90 or above, I was done with that section. If I didn't score a 90, I'd take a few notes and re-learn what I had forgotten. I would wait and take the lesson quiz the next day to avoid just memorizing the answers. I also would generate a random quiz of 20 questions every once in awhile to make sure I was retaining what I reviewed.

    Unfortunately, this took me a lot of time. I spent 35 hours in about 7 days to get a 90 on all the lessons. I wasn't the most fun, but it was the only reason I passed on my first attempt.

    The biggest piece of advice though is to be honest with your self. If you don't know it attack.

    FAR - 91
    REG - 88
    AUD - 98
    BEC - 88

    @okcpa2015,

    I have forgotten the majority I think. The little details are escaping me, and I just feel like I'm going through the motions. When people say 5,000 MCQ, there is no way I'll get close to that.

    you still have almost 3 weeks. Take it easy. Take one section at a time. How is 3 weeks not enough time to re-learn stuff? I am still “re-learning” things and I take my test on Friday…

    @cpa the third,

    So you're not a bit concerned that you ar re-learning with your test on Friday? I'd be freaking out. I don't know if almost 3 weeks is enough time, which is why I asked the question. I do hope you're right.

    Yeah areas where I struggle, I re-read the book. I just don't understand why you think 3 weeks isn't enough time to go back to a section you are struggling with. You aren't going to know everything in the book, ever. You will need a refresher on various topics all the way up until the test date.

    3 weeks out does not constitute a “major dilemma”

    @cpa the third,

    I realize I'm not going to remember everything, but at this point I'd settle for “something”. It was actually sobering to see just how much I had forgotten. I hope 3 weeks is enough time for the “sections” I'm struggling with.
