I recently lost my Reg and BEC credits, because I failed FAR with a 73. My prep course (Becker) is now expired, so I’m starting over with only my audit credit remaining. I’m debating between Becker and Yaeger now. I know this has been asked a million times, but which do you prefer?

    A little background on me:
I purchased the BEC section of Yaeger years ago, back when they still used the Wiley Books, and got a 74. I stopped studying at that point. At the very end of 2016 I signed up for a Becker Fast Past Plus course to try to pass the exam before the big changes in April 2017. I passed BEC in Dec 2016, Reg in Jan 2017, then I found out we were going to have to make a major move for my husband’s job, I was also pregnant, so I hit pause on studying so we could find a house and move before I had the baby. Moved, had a baby, started a new job, and then resumed studying in January 2018 with 6 months to study for an pass Audit and FAR. I passed Audit, but I had planned to take it in February, baby got sick, and so I missed my test date and couldn’t reschedule until April due to the windows. This left me with less time then planned for FAR and wound up with a 72, and my BEC and REG credits expired. That sucked, I was naturally really pissed off, and took the rest of the summer off. Stupid decision on my part, but here I am. I’m obviously not going to walk away with one credit on the table so here I go again. I will get those three letters if it kills me!

I’m torn on the prep course because my job won’t pay for it, so I’m paying out of pocket. Becker worked for me, but I think that was more attributable to the fact that I drilled questions as much as a could, vs. my first go around with Yaeger I thought I could rely on memorization alone. Yaeger is obviously attractive because of the cost, they also have a BOGO promotion going on right now. In an ideal world I’d buy FAR with Becker, because I already studied with that material so it will come back to me better, and then I could re-evaluate Yaeger vs. Becker for BEC and REG. Unfortunately with Becker it’s cheaper to buy the 3 parts at once ($643 per part vs. $910 per part).

Other considerations – BEC and REG have changed drastically since I took them, REG will change even more so due to the 2018 Tax reform. Yaeger changed their interface completely since I used them. A hard copy book is a must for me.

What would you do? Does Yaeger’s MCQ and SIM interface mirror the actual exam? That was the biggest thing I liked with Becker, it looked just like the actual exam. If you made it all the way through my rambling post, thank you. Sorry this was so long!!
