I will be graduating next spring with my Bachelor’s in accounting, which will satisfy my requirements to sit for the exam (I am in Georgia). However, I am trying to plan ahead of that for actual licensure.

I previously received an Associate’s degree from a technical college in computer networking. I am having trouble finding out whether or not these credit hours count towards the 150 I need to apply for a license once I pass the exam. I want to go ahead and get all my schooling out of the way. Before I apply to be in a Masters program, I just want to know if my education credit hours are already satisfied.

I know NASBA offers a license education evaluation, but I can’t really do that as I haven’t even taken& passed the exam yet. I know my requirements for just taking the exam will be satisfied when I graduate. Can anyone help me?

Georgia has domestic education evaluations. Under the ‘Advisory Evaluation for Examination' tab.

In Kentucky, our CPA license process goes through the state board instead of NASBA so it may be different for you, but I know here you can send in all of your transcripts to the state board and they can tell you whether your credit hours have been satisfied.

Unfortunately, any evaluation has to be done through NASBA in Georgia. Our state board doesn't evaluate education. I am currently consulting with an accounting professor at my school who seems to think my additional associate's degree should count towards my 150 hours. In which case I'll only need one accounting course over my Bachelor's to satisfy licensure requirements. I may still send in transcripts for evaluation to NASBA.

I would highly advise going directly to the source that has the final say for your education, NASBA.
The professor can try to offer advice, but ultimately it is not their decision whether your education will be accepted or not.

Yes, thanks for your input. I decided to go ahead and proceed with the NASBA evaluation to be safe 🙂
