As the title says, I have spent 10 years on the tax side in both public and private accounting. I got back into public last year and got serious about the exam, I’m halfway there and will hopefully receive a passing AUD score on 3/8. I keep telling myself that if I can pass the other 3 sections I can pass FAR as well with the right focus and discipline. I hated portions of each exam but buckled down and got after it. So far I am through 6 sections of Rogers course and I am already feeling defeated. I know it will be good information to learn as I am sure it will help me in my job, and finishing this damn test will be a lifelong goal accomplished that I will reap the benefits from for the rest of my life. Short term pain for long term gain. Anyone feel like FAR wasn’t doable in the beginning?

FAR is not a difficult exam from a content standpoint (hold for the new revenue rec rules which I did not test on), FAR is a disciplinary battle because it is the largest by content. The shear volume of material is the only trick to this exam. Do not let yourself get defeated by amount of material. Just take it section by section and it will all come together at the end. It is a very overwhelming exam, but you can do it and you will do it.

    15 year tax guy here.
FAR was a challenge for me as I had not been involved with the FAR/GAAP sides of things since college.
Just keep at it. Make sure you take one day a week to do some cumulative stuff, to revisit the earlier areas. That's the one thing I wished I had done, as I had to relearn a great deal during the review phase.
