This next week I will be in the car for at least 3 hours a day driving with co-workers to NJ for an audit. My original plan was just to wear over the ear headphones to drown out the sound of my co-workers talking and the radio (but they are not noise cancelling) so i firgured I give music a try.

I was looking on spotify and saw they have a bunch of playlists for studying. They have meditation, piano, and all different studying playlists. Does any one have any good suggestions?

I use to listen to radiohead specifically Kid A one of the best albums and is pretty relaxing when studying.

Interesting question. For some reason, I can't do it. I've tried. If I do, my mind becomes focused on the music, and not on studying. I wish I could!!

Unfortunately I don't listen to Spotify so I can't help there. However, Brian Crain has an excellent album, It's called Deep Focus Piano Study Playlist. When listening to it I feel more focused and I am able to retain more. Any classical music has been beneficial to me though. I am also like you, I get distracted by the music if it's too upbeat or has lyrics. Good luck in your studies!

I listen to video game soundtracks. I used to specifically listen to the Bastion soundtrack, Mass Effect 1-3 soundtracks, and the shadow of the colossus soundtrack.

    LOL @mtaylo24.

I like to listen to podcasts so lyrics and melodies don't get stuck in my head. I have a new age instrumental station on my Pandora that sounds like pleasant elevator music.

Here is my collection of weird things that seemed to help:
-On Youtube, look for white noise videos. Specifically, I listened to one called “Boeing 777-300 Cabin Sound 11.5 hours” and it worked wonders as weird as it sounds lol. It is supposedly a full recording of a quiet overnight international flight and it is oddly relaxing.
-Anything classical, solo piano, light jazz also worked great for me. I used Pandora at first but switched to Apple Music and their stations are pretty good as well.
-Ambient electronic is also relatively undistracting.

I sometimes wear the Bose noise-canceling headphones while studying. Highly recommended!
