    Lets pretend you ONLY had 7 hours in total to study for FAR, what would you cover?

    I know this is a crazy question, but due to MY NTS expiring I had to take BEC this morning (I cried during the first testlet FYI) and I scheduled FAR which I haven’t studied for, for tomorrow morning (It expired this month). I was just going to do a no show and wait for that no show or no credit so I can re apply. But I decided to go sit for it and just see what it’s like. I know I won’t pass it, I am not a super genius and I don’t have that kind of skill, BUT I would like to try to walk out with something more than a 10. I know this question is crazy, but what would you study if you only had 7 hours to study for FAR?

    Yes, I’m losing my mind.. I know.

    Debits Left. Credits Right.
    Assets = Liabilities plus Equity
    Net Income = Revenue minus Expenses

    Everything else is supplemental.

    Bonds, Leases, EPS, Government/Non-Profit…I'm sure there's plenty more, but these seemed to be stressed a lot in Becker.

    It amazes me the amount of people applying for a test they haven't studied for or applying for more than one test at a time. Waste of money and a spot for someone who may need that time slot. Can someone explain the logic behind this??

    Hook up with up with a Hot Female CPA. I tell her that she “Hot & Sexy” and that she turns me on when she talks FAR accounting to me. ” Yeah Baby, tell me bout them Depreciation Methods”. We do this for 7 hours.

    Knocked out 2 birds with one stone. Hooked up with a hot female CPA and got a free FAR review before exam 😉

    Lmao. I don't even know what to say to that besides the fact that I'm a girl and I don't really think it's a win for me to hook up with a “hot female CPA” ????????

    Honestly jstella, had I studied not for profit I probably would have walked out with a decent score (definitely not passed lol) ..I studied bonds and percentage of completion for contracts and didn't see that at all, so I guess my dream of passing FAR with 7 hours study time is shot lol.

    CharleneR Government and NFP almost made me quit studying FAR, and the whole CPA exam in general. It's so obnoxious how I spent no time learning these concepts in school, and Becker doesn't even introduce them until F7 & F8. I feel you, the thing to realize is none of this hard to learn or understand when you really look at it, it's actually pretty simple. What's hard is just the onslaught of information overload, pages and pages of all theses rules & exceptions.

    I completely agree with you, I don't think this is “hard” I actually love FAR the most because it's what I love.. Accounting. I just don't agree with how they make us memorize agency funds and enterprise funds and other random little things that we would never need to memorize in real life.

    I actually worked for a not for profit who used cash basis and every quarter I had to fix it to accrual for the financial statements, so I understand a lot of this is real life, but memorize ratios and formulas and certain fund types and minimums, is not real life.

    Preach @CharleneR ! I felt the same way when I got a question on “what securities act created the SEC?” and I just thought to myself “why is this relevant to my career?” Unnecessary information overload!

    Preach @Paydirt123 too! I feel your pain! I failed my first FAR exam with a 72 b/c of the cluster that is Govt and NFP and the Framework questions..
