After 4 failed attempts and about 9 months away from even cracking a book, navigating my way through tax season, it’s time to get this ball rolling again.

I’m considering a different approach – an iPad or other similar tablet style computer.

I’m used to using laptops with keyboards – does using an iPad make it more difficult without the use of a keyboard? What are some things to consider & watch out for?

Thank you in advance for your input

I used my Ipad to study all of the time and I love it. I can take it anywhere and I don't need internet all of the time in order to study. If you feel that you need a keyboard, there are cases that come with one and you can connect it through Bluetooth I believe. I used to have one and it helped a lot. Good Luck!

You can actually get an iPad with a keyboard now (an idea they stole from the Microsoft Surface Pro should I mention). However, I don’t recommend them (I have a Surface Pro 3) because of their inefficient use unless you can put them on a hard surface. I’ve never been a fan of tablets for anything other than recreation, however I do use my Surface Pro 3 while doing MCQs (it’s very convenient to pop off the keyboard after I typed in my log in credentials so I can use that desk space for my legal pad). I guess you could even use it while lying in bed or on the couch but I like to take notes while I do MCQs so that wouldn’t be a good option for me.

I guess to sum it up a tablet can definitely be a good resource to have while studying but it isn’t going to be a game changer. I wouldn’t recommend an iPad simply because I don’t see the value in paying that much for a tablet alone. Go for something similar to the Surface Pro from Microsoft which is a hybrid between a laptop and a tablet. I really like the Surface pro 4 but there are definitely other alternatives out there so shop around a bit and see what suits you best.
