Is there a way to figure out what the state requirements for awards are?

I’m shooting for the ESW award, but I was wondering what the state awards were in the event that I knew I was going to fall shy of it, if that was something worth still shooting for. I can’t seem to find the requirements for Ohio, or even past winners, online anywhere. I’m thinking about reaching out to the state board, but figured it was worth asking here first.

Also, how would you even know if you won? Would you be notified by your state board?

Only 60 people a year get it out of the entire country.

64 are selected to the Major League Baseball all star team.

So I wouldn't worry about it … not trying to be mean.

    AUD - 74, 99 !!
    REG - 74, 92
    BEC - 83
    FAR - 73, 86

I'm not sure what state awards you're talking about? Like a state ESW-equivalent? If that's what you're talking about, I think it's something that not all states have, as I've not heard of it before, so if all states had it, I'd think I would have heard more about it. Maybe just a few states have it?

@Salahandra Some info in the top paragraph there, doesn't seem to be state-specific. Nothing wrong with setting your sights high, even if you miss it you'll still be a CPA! 😛 Good luck!

    B - 88 (2/16)
    A - 84 (4/16)
    R - 73 (6/16), 82(7/16)
    F - 67 (1/16), 84(4/16)

    Ethics - 93

The only state “awards” I've seen are for the highest scores in the state. I don't think each state necessarily recognizes its top scorers, and obviously the criteria is different for each state. Not sure of anything specific for Ohio.

Haha, I won't get my hopes up, I just figured if I scored 96 or higher on my FAR exam, I would give it a shot. I know it's super difficult and, honestly, the only reason I'd care to even try is the large bonus. So, if I don't come close with my first exam, I know I've lost all chances at national. Ohio does have a recognition program as I've reached out and they've confirmed it, but I'm waiting to hear back about what kind of scores they require (like top 10 scorers or if there is a cumulative average of 95.5 or higher like for ESW). I know it's a popular question by the newbies, so I figured it wouldn't hurt to post what I learned when they get back to me.

I'll take “Call the State Board” for $400, Alex.
