Is the AICPA trying to sabotage us?

I’ll start out by saying that there’s a slim chance this won’t affect me at all depending on the two scores I’ll receive in a little less than 79 hours, but how do people feel about the AICPA score release timelines for 2018?

Once again, they are changing the exam software in Q2, thus leading to single score releases for Q2-Q4, albeit only 29 days instead of 2.5 months for Q2, but that still leaves people hanging and further compresses the 18 month window for candidates. If you haven’t passed any, it’s not as big of a factor because you need to keep studying something anyway, but if you only have 1 or 2 sections left, you’re left sitting there knowing the clock is ticking, but it’s not very useful to keep studying while waiting to get your score back.

Maybe I’m just super nervous about this score release and this is irritating me more than it should, but I just feel like everyone who takes the exam in 2017 and 2018 have been disadvantaged due to the score release timelines.

I'm reluctantly thankful for the change because the current software not utilizing the full screen is pretty outdated and horrible, especially for the new document heavy SIMs. This delayed score release will have an effect on me. So it goes. Not much we can do about it now. Remember the fight as your rise through the ranks and attempt to exert change later in life if you have the power to do so.

I like your 79 hours remark… not that any of us are counting…

@ReckedRacing I'm not rising through any ranks without that CPA license lol, and that's the scariest part of this whole endeavor! Without a CPA license, the plans for my future career and life are shot — can't go anywhere in public accounting without a CPA license.

I agree that they needed to do something to account for the document-intensive sims, but it just feels like they are tossing more hurdles in front of candidates other than the exams themselves. That's also part of the problem, whether in DC or with the AICPA, those higher ups are out of touch with real life.

I don't know. It is disheartening having to wait that long.
