Is it worth the time to go over simulations during the review course?

Don’t get me wrong, i’m going to practice many simulations. But would it be better to go over them once one is done with their review course and hammered through many MCQs? At least in my opinion it seems that if someone is just learning the material and isn’t too familiar with all the information, simulations may be somewhat counterproductive?

Since SIMs require applying what you've learned, it's better to save them until you're finished with MCQs or in the review phase of your studying, in my opinion.

I think they are worth doing but closer to your exam. I did sims the week prior along with endless MCQ.

Simply slamming through multiple choices questions, over and over again, won't necessarily benefit you, unless you study where you went wrong each time. Try to avoid looking at the correct answer choice/explanation while you read an explanation of why your response was wrong (As I remember, Becker tells you why each answer is wrong). Then retry the problem; keep rinsing and repeating. Otherwise, if you look at the correct answer, you will merely put that answer choice in the next time or the time after that, memorizing the answer, which isn't a good thing. I found my method to be pretty effective.

Definitely do the SIMS; they'll pack even more knowledge into your head for the exam. I've even seen a few sims that were basically from the review software, which appeared on the exam; it's rare, but maybe 1 sim on each exam will almost be identical to a review software sim.

B=84 This exam was such a b**** that I thought I failed-don't know how these things work
A=76 Slacker I am, I'll happily take it
    R=81 I LOVE taxes
F=80 I don't wanna get banned for an expletive I'm thinking with "yea" proceeding it

Not sure what review course you're using, but I would absolutely practice sims. Since you have AUD and REG left I would get familiar with the AL. It can be useful and help save time searching if you know where certain key topics are located.

Sims will give you an idea whether you really understand a certain topic or need to go back and dive into it a little deeper. It's also good to get exposed to how some of them are formatted and what they're asking of you. Sometimes the instructions aren't very clear and can seem somewhat misleading so it's important to read everything very carefully.

    FAR: 75 Roger & Ninja (notes/flashcards/audio/MCQ)
    AUD: 73, 81
    BEC: 71, retake 8/29
    REG:

I've handled the sims 2 ways. When I first started I would watch lecture, do mcq's, then sims, then move to the next chapter. This way wasn't awful but later I started to watch lecture, move to mcq's, then move to the next chapter. When I moved to final review then I did the sims. I found this to be more useful because it was bringing everything together and the sims do a good job at applying multiple concepts into 1 sim.

    FAR - 78
REG - 72,74,71...please just go away REG nobody likes you!
    BEC - 82
    AUD - Aug 16

I think it's absolutely worth it to practice SIMS-they are 50% of your grade! They do rely on the concepts learned through MCQ but at a higher level, so it's really helpful. the night before my AUD exam, I think I did 30 or 40 SIMS in Ninja MCQ, and even though it largely made feel like crap, during the actual exam, I was happy that I looked at them, as I actually got bits and pieces of the ones I reviewed!

I would recommend going through the sims if you do have time because you are cutting a 2,500 question testbank down to 140 complex examples. If you are going to skip, for REG – at least spend time going over tax forms, and knowing the basis calcs for each entity and for FAR/AUD at least spend time going over JEs/Financial Statements. Browsing legal letters, business memos, and invoices are pretty huge as well.

    AUD - 1st - 60 (12/12), 61 (2/13), 61 (8/13), 78! (11/15)
    REG - 55 (2/16) 69 (5/16) Retake(8/16)
    BEC - 71(5/16) Retake (9/16)
    FAR - (8/16)
