    Hi everyone,

I have been going through all the free online courses I can find to teach myself SQL. I want to convey to potential employers that I have familiarity with the programming language and a desire to learn. Is it appropriate to list courses that I have taken online without misrepresenting my skills or being taken as a total joke. If it is an okay thing to add, how should it be presented? In a current projects or interests section?

    Thanks for the advice!

I have also been learning on codecademy here and there; mostly, HTML+CSS, Java, Javascript. A good advice would be to display your projects if you are planning to land a gig in the computer science/software developer field. Otherwise, a simple line item in the interest section would be sufficient.

Filled with uncertainty, the treacherous journey has begun.

I would say yes, but I would explain what those are (i.e., developed skills is SQL via Code Academy) Perhaps it's just because of my age, but I was not familiar with them until recently.
