    Long story short.

Finished CPA exams, have the needed 150 credits. Have MBA, am 31 and have full time job. Need to switch to job in public, specifically audit. Not looking to move as I own.

Have applied/updated resume for some regional firms in Baltimore with specific staff auditor openings but these openings are largely few and far between. Some larger/national firms have openings for Interns.

Should I apply for/take internships? Has anyone on the older spectrum taken this route?

I was 27 when I interned last summer at a regional firm. The intern before me was 29 when he interned. I'm not sure why a lot of people shy away from internships because of their age (not saying you are, but I've seen it a bunch on the forums here).
    1) Internships are hands down the best way to enter public accounting
    2) You're probably going to make more as an intern than a first year associate since you'll be hourly.

Usajobs.com have a recent graduates program for internships. My friend did that, got a job with the FDIC and makes great money. It would be worth checking out.

Thanks Biff. Thats reassuring. I think my main mental roadblock, which I know is stupid, is that with at least the big 4 and campus recruiting it seems that all of these college recruits come out of the womb knowing they want to do accounting and those that do not conform to this look indecisive.
