I have a bachelor in Economics , and I am currently taking accounting credits to make up to the 24 accounting credits requirement. I am taking Intermediate accounting 1 now, and I have intermediate accounting 2 scheduled for the next semester. I am actually thinking of not taking intermediate accounting 2, but I am distressed about this leading to the rejection of my CPA application. Do I have to have an intermediate accounting 2 in my transcript?? Note that I will still have met the 24 accounting credits requirement. My accounting courses include, FINANCIAL Accounting 1&2, Intermediate Accounting 1, Advanced Accounting, Taxation, Auditing, Managerial Accounting, and Intermediate Management Accounting.

It's going to depend on what courses your state board requires for you to take the exam. I actually emailed the Board and had them look at my stuff to make sure I would have all the qualifying credits I would need, and they were extremely helpful when mapping out my MBA elective classes to fit the requirements.

It may not be required for licensure, but you should be aware that the material covered in Intermediate II is heavily tested.

I agree with @A above me here, it's stuff that will absolutely be on the test. I'm not sure what state you're looking at licensure in, but mine (minnesota) had that same 24 credit deal. The 24 credits have to be middle or upper division classes though, at least in MN. Double check how your school classifies them. Of what you listed, financial and managerial accounting at my university were 1000-level classes and didnt count for the 24. My 24 were (4 credits each) Tax, Audit, Int I, Int II, Cost, and Advanced.

TL;DR: Intermediate II is a B***h, and may well be the hardest accounting class you take in undergrad, but the material in it is going to be crucial to passing the CPA tests, particularly FAR.

Intermediate II – has the most of the FAR Questions, if you get a good mark on it, you're 50% ahead with FAR exam. As to

Advanced Accounting, make sure you're comfortable with consolidations, governmental accounting & NPO. If not, most CPA review courses cover these 3 areas really well.

Becker or Wiley textbooks are equivalent of Ninja MCQs app + Ninja Plus videos + Ninja Books/Notes + Ninja Audios, as to these 3 mentioned areas in Advanced Accounting & even for Intermediate II, as well.

    Good luck.

I'd take it anyways. Like others are saying it makes up a huge portion of FAR. I'd even take advanced if you can because of consolidations.

^ Agreed about advanced. My advanced prof also covered Govt/NFP material briefly too.
