Inflated Trending Score?

Don’t take this as a criticism of Ninja MCQ, because I absolutely love it and put full faith in it (it has helped me pass three in a row, and hopefully my last one too). However, I do find it a little off-putting that the trending score artificially inflates toward the end of the adaptive learning phase. For example, I am 86% through adaptive learning at the moment. I have an average of 77% and am trending 90%. I really should be trending around low to mid 80s, as I usually score 80-85 and can count the number of 90s I’ve received on a set on like three fingers. I even called it perfectly for REG…I finished with an average of 74 and trending 92 I believe…and I was like “that average score is way high. I’m probably low 80s”. Sure enough, I got a grade in the low 80s on the exam.

Not complaining at all since a pass is a pass and Ninja rocks…but just wondering if there is a way around this aside from kinda eyeballing it. Or does this have to do with content weighting and I am just completely off-base?

This is interesting. I don't have an answer as I don't use Ninja but I know that with Becker, I made a 79 on both finals and then a 94 on the real exam while my friend made a 74 on the final and a 75 on the exam. So maybe they are trying to base trending scores on things that just don't apply to all people. Our brains are just all different.

I'm the complete opposite of bear bear.

In my last 10 sets of 30 mcq's, I've had 8 sessions where I'm at 90%or better and 1 83% and 1 86%. But im trending in the low 80's.

    Wtf?!?!…

    BEC-80-1X

I assume there is some sort of weight based on the topics. So maybe you got a 90 on a set of 30…but it was a majority of questions that don't see alot of action on the actual exam so they don't have as much of an impact on the trending score. Or maybe you got a set of 30 that consisted mostly of topics that you are already scoring well on and you are still performing less than ideal on other areas that are bringing your trending score down.

I've had inflation through all of my exams until I got to my last few days where I had hit 100% and was in review and just hammering MCQs. In my opinion it happens because in the trouble questions we get to see the same question so many times over.

My auditing final trending score was 10 points higher than my actual result, which I feel like was thanks to SIMS, and I definitely agree it can be inflated for those of us who are hooked on it.

    FAR - 84! (1/09)
    AUD - 82! (4/09)
    BEC - 91! (5/23)
    REG - TBD (9/03)

I think it all depends on how you use the software. I found my trending score would go up when I would do adaptive sessions and keep getting repeats right which can artificially inflate your score. If you do a lot of trouble or missed last time, you're trending is likely to go down since you will probably do worse on them. I'm currently studying for BEC and no matter how many times I see some questions I still can't get them right lol.

    FAR: 75 Roger & Ninja (notes/flashcards/audio/MCQ)
    AUD: 73, 81
    BEC: 71, retake 8/29

It's weird because for the last probably 600 or so questions I've been doing mostly New Questions and Missed Last Time Seen. I would have expected trending to drop. Oh well…I won't question the system that has gotten me passing grades, lol. I'll just be grateful that it works.
