Hi all,

I miscounted one of my courses and I am pretty sure I will miss the eligibility threshold for the CPA exam. I applied through NASBA. I will be have the required courses in 3 weeks so I can get my application back in. Here’s my question: does NASBA refund my application money if I am found ineligible or can I use it as a credit toward a future exam?

I had this problem too… graduated from a four year college, applied to NASBA and paid the fee and then I started looking at my transcript… I was 1 credit short! I noticed this before they had processed my information so I contacted my state rep at NASBA who issued my NTS once I sent her documentation that I was enrolled at a local community college for some random 3 credit class. I waited to apply for my next NTS until I was done taking the class and then I sent that transcript.

Are you saying that you will meet the requirements in 3 weeks? If so you should still be able to sit for the exam depending on your state. Here in MN if you are within 90 days of meeting the requirements you can still sit as long as you submit a certificate of enrollment. And then send updated transcripts after the course is completed.

Yes, I'm doing an accelerated half semester class as part of my MAcc which will put me over the credit threshold. Currently, I am 2 credits short before completing this accelerated class. I will be sitting in PA so I am not sure how the rules apply here.

Actually, is there anybody in PA that can help me? Do we have to have 24 or 36 credits in acct/aud/tax topics to sit for the CPA exam? I know we need 36 to be licensed, but the requirements are not clear and the people at NASBA are beyond unhelpful.
