Any encouragement would be great because at this point I am ready to give up. I was sure I passed. High 90s. Studied for 4 months. Starting to think this is impossible.

Think of it as a learning experience. Now you know what taking the actual exam is like. Now you know that the study methods and/or course you used wasn't effective. Now you know what topics came up on the exam that you weren't comfortable with. Develop a new strategy for yourself and start off fresh.

It took me 5 attempts to pass. You can do this. Make sure you don't cut any corners and practice the JEs. That's what saved me the last time. Also, do tons of MCQs and make sure you understand the answer and the subject being asked.

I got the same first score as you. I failed it again, and then finally passed. Although the second fail was after taking AUD and BEC so the material was not fresh. You have to just buckle down and do it. Know the topics, know government accounting and non-profit. That's a huge part. Know journal entries for both government and non-government. Every time you see a journal entry in an example, jot it down. Don't give up if this was your first fail. Like others said now you know what to expect. Read the notes, read them again, do MCQ, write down why you get it wrong. You can do this IF you want to!

It is time for you to evaluate your study efficiency. Have you used any review course? Have you watched all the lecture? How many MCQ you have tried? What was the result?

@FutureCPA8 You will get it. I just failed for the 3rd time with a 70. I have improved every time. This last time I only had 56 min for the SIMS, which were brutal. I felt so confident on the MCQ that I knew I would get close. After my first two attempts, I felt so defeated and felt like it was impossible. I'm going to take auditing early April and get back to FAR with a fresh mind. Keep pushing. You will get there!

Knowing how to do all the journal entries is what helped me pass FAR. If I didn't know the answer to a question I would just write out the JE and 9 times out of 10 it solved the question for me.

Make an honest assessment about what gave you trouble on the first exam, and review the report that says where you were weak, comparable, and strong.

I studied about as long as you did for my first exam, and I got a 66. Per my honest assessment coming out of the exam, which was confirmed after reviewing the report, the task-based simulations killed me. I was weak. The second go round I focused on sims and gave myself plenty of time for that section during the second exam. Yesterday I received my score, 80, and I was rated ‘stronger' on the simulations.

You can't feel defeated and give up. You failed a hard test, and that is all. All you can do is figure out why, address those problems, and take another crack at it. You can do it.

Take a minute and re-focus. You are so close…besides, if you give up now you will always wonder if you could have passed. You'll keep asking the question why did I quit. So take a minute, think about your CPA career and start studying. So what you failed, it will hurt more if you quit. Try again, you won't regret it.

To me, the best way to measure how prepared you are before heading into the exam is to review your most recent MCQ sessions.

Take a look back at the last 200 questions you completed when you were reviewing. It's my belief that if you scored in the high 80s or 90s on those last 200 heading into the exam you should be in good shape to pass.
