I just registered here cause I’m so mad I spend so much money on a book typed by a child! Seems like no one did any proofreading of this book. EVER. I’m on the 2nd chapter and I cannot concentrate on accounting material because I keep spotting the lack of English grammar!

Moreover, doing IPQs, in chapter 2 rev rec(!!!) they ask questions on bonds, on cost in excess of billings, inventory on consignment etc etc NOT COVERED in neither chapter 1 or 2! How am I suppose to know what I haven’t read yet! Cost in excess of billings/billings in excess of cost – I saw this account names for the first time in my life today doing the IPQs. I had to google what “compensating balance” was while the timer was ticking in another tab. Chapter IPQs are suppose to test my knowledge/understanding of that particular chapter, no?!

UGH! I wish I could refund Roger, and get a boring Becker 🙁

Sorry for your bad experience. I'm sure people used Roger and passed. I use Becker and there sure are small errors and sometimes irrelevant questions show up in wrong sections. I think as long as you are learning, it's not the biggest deal of the world. Keep calm and carry on 🙂

There is nothing you can do about it now.

However, Roger is not your problem.

The CPA exam is a difficult, tedious, and challenging process for all of the candidates.

I understand that it must be frustrating to get certain MCQ's wrong or to have to search for material online that was not covered in your lecture.

But – the onus is on you to a) not give up and to b) find ways to figure out how to solve your problem.

Might I suggest supplementing your review course with Ninja? Or taking a day off if you are feeling angry or frustrated?

Review courses are created and edited by humans and humans make mistakes and miss things.

When someone points out something in the NINJA material, I can just own it and fix it and hope they'll be gracious.

Roger is a great instructor and many people have passed with him – keep moving forward and study is my recommendation.

I passed using Roger and would recommend it to anyone. I don't think the material is the problem here…

Maybe reading is not your best method of studying? I passed all four sections with Roger and having't read the book at all because I know i hated reading. All i did was listen to the lectures, took notes, and hammered the MCQs and SIMS.

This is a completely normal reaction when you start studying for the CPA exam.
They use old released questions so sometimes the topic overlap, and sometimes you haven't gotten to that chapter yet.
Yes, its incredibly frustrating, but it won't affect you in the long run.

I'm just chiming in to thank you for the warning about Roger. As a former English major, I HATE grammatical errors. If a major company lacks the time or resources to properly edit their documents before publishing them, it makes me question the accuracy of their content as well.

I'm currently using Gleim and have noticed one or two small errors and awkward word choices, but I haven't seen anything egregious.

I was a collegiate copy editor, scored a near-perfect on the writing/reading portion of the GMAT and I still make mistakes – and sometimes they're egregious – not bad grammar per se, but spellcheck missed when I wrote “keyboad” instead of keyboard or something.

You probably wouldn't like ninja either 😀

But the point is we're nickel and dimed on everything for this test, and unless you have a trust fund or one of the Big 4 to pick up the tab, it's frustrating to spend money on a slightly cheaper but still expensive system only to encounter issues like the ones the OP described.

I would not focus on the small stuff like spellinng. Focus more on the content and absorbing the information. Each sturdy supplement has their downfall and none of them arw perfect
