    Hi all!

I am a little confused on how to start applying to take the CPA exam. I am graduating August 2017 and will obtain my bachelor’s degree then. I have my CPA material already. How do I schedule for the exam? How often is it offered? I heard that there are blackout months where the exam is not offered.

First you need to check to see if you can sit for the exam. Each state has different requirements to sit. Open the below link and click on your state and it will tell you the requirements.
    https://thiswaytocpa.com/exam-licensure/state-requirements/

You can apply for exam & NTS (notice to schedule) with the following link. The bottom of the link will provide a list of all the states. Just click on your state and it will start the process:
    https://nasba.org/exams/cpaexam/

this is where you would sign up to reserve your seat after obtaining NTS
    https://www.prometric.com/en-us/clients/cpa/Pages/landing.aspx

The NTS is valid for one testing event or six months whichever is first exhausted for each examination section. Every 3 months is a blackout month (march, june, sept., & dec) . Since all the changes in the exam, AICPA allows you to sit for the exam within the first 10 days of the blackout months (not sure how much longer this will continue, but it looks like to at least March 2018)

    Good luck!

Every state is different. But most states require the official copy of the degree and transcript. I would start studying for the CPA exams now. Whenever you have the official documents, you could send them over to your State and apply for the sections. Summer is a good time to study. All the best.
