    Hello fellow ninjas,

i need to come to terms with starting from scratch on my cpa exams, and honestly i find it hard to get motivated after failing far so many times, reg/bec/aud expiring and expired. Real life got in the way a lot in 2017, and i stopped caring about this after my most recent failure in FAR.

I don’t really know how to motivate my self, except the thought that my firm wants me to pass.

I am open to anything, as i am about ready to throw in the towel.

BEC: 75 lost credit, could not pass far πŸ™
AUD: 76 lost credit could not pass far πŸ™
FAR: 74, FML. Next exam 06/14/23
REG: 75 lost credit could not pass far πŸ™

You said “I don't really know how to motivate my self, except the thought that my firm wants me to pass.”…so the firm wants you to pass, but do you want to pass? For me, that was the only thing that kept me going. I wanted it for myself soooooo badly. The firm wanting it probably isnt enough, you have to want it too.

You passed 3 out of 4 of these things, and even your failing scores are right there! You clearly have what it takes to do this, I understand life can get in the way sometimes. You are capable, I think if you decide that this is something you really want and become passionate about it then you can get it done. Its up to you!

    FAR - 80
    AUD - 82
    BEC - 80
    REG - 85

    ETHICS - 90
    EXPERIENCE - COMPLETE

I'm sorry for the bad luck on these exams. Your scores were all in the 70 range. I would take a break to try to get over the burn out from the past couple of years. Then I would evaluate the amount of time put in to studying. If you put in the time then look at the review materials you used.

I was in the same boat as you. I took the exam multiple times when I was younger and mostly failed. My firm/boss has been pushing me to pass for a couple of years so I started again in 2016. I think my problem was always commitment because I would study for a week or two but would have fun with my friends on the weekends and it was never a priority. This time I made it a priority. I studied at work/library/and starbucks for months. I was hardly never home and if I was not working I was studying. The times I went out with friends I noticed I failed. So I again just cut myself off and studied. I tried to study 4 hours a day M-Thurs. Had dinner with the gf on Friday. Studied 8 plus hours a day on Sat and Sun. I did this for almost a year, except for busy seasons.

You can do it…your scores were close. Good Luck!

Motivation is overrated because it can only get to so far before you quit. It's either you do or don't.
