How long do you all take a to study for a retest?

Have to retake FAR but I’m currently studying for AUD and will take Jan. 15. Was thinking of taking a month after that for FAR but I don’t know if a month is too long, too little, etc. Thought’s from your personal experiences?

    **Got a 56 on FAR

I took FAR on DEC. 3. Made a 72. I am doing the 7 week ninja plan and starting to study again on Jan. 1. Hopefully that will work.

FAR is a beast. I took 7 weeks for a retake. It really depends on you. For me, I needed to nail those concepts better and take my time with areas I struggled in. I did the same for REG but took 9.5 weeks. For me, the longer time really helped. Your results may vary. Good luck!

    FAR - 10/3/16
    BEC - 69 - 10/31/16
    AUD - November 2016
    REG - December 2016

@Lfranc8 What plan is that, the ELL plan?

Yes I am going to try it. I did Wiley and studied for 6 months for FAR (I recently got married and bought my first house). Just got my score break down. I was only weak in 1 area of MC and the SIMS. So I definitely know to work through that. I passed AUD using Wiley only with a 77. I have until 11/12/19 to pass everything else. The reason I am not going back to Wiley is it just so much info and its all over the place right now Just scheduled FAR retake for Feb. 23, 2019. I am already loving the breakdown of Ninja. I am going to review with that and supplement with Wiley on MC and SIMS.

I've tried it and I like it. I am a huge advocate of breaking your studying in intervals throughout the day. And I also switched from Wiley to Ninja only. Wiley overwhelms you with too many details whereas Ninja “trims the fat” and the Ninja notes + Ninja MCQ really help tie the main ideas together.

Great!! Thank you so much! It definitely is a little scary to switch! But I am willing to try anything to get through it! I find Wiley is comparable to an online class, which is great if you need that much breakdown. I also feel that my base is really good with Wiley after going through all the detail. I just need that extra review and practice hopefully. I totally agree with Wiley being to much information. It took my months just to get through the material which is why I didn't work near as many sims as I did for audit because I was trying to just get through the info.

@SuperAccountingGod I do have one question! When using the ELL Plan. I know it says 4 hours a day and I have to get through the book in so much time. But do you study the book in the am, then the notes at lunch and maybe the audio at night? How did you split the time up?

@Lfranc8, I studied ELL and did the book only until I was done, then did MCQs all day as well.

@Turo9992000 I am starting to study again Jan 1. I actually have the whole week off and dont go back to work till the 7. I am still going to break it up but I could get 5 hours in a day. Do you suggest doing that?

I think you should study as much as possible while you are off from work. Once you get back into the work hustle you're not going to want to study. Even if it's simply reading a chapter or two a night, or in the bathroom, or listening to the audio while in the car. Don't waste time, it goes by so fast, and something always happen to cause a set back. Get a plan and stick with it. Good luck.

    It begins with a 75

Oh man, looks like perhaps more than a month is needed for a retake 🙁

@lfranc8 For the book I read it the first 2 hours in the morning, then finish the remaining pages during lunch for one hour, then read/take notes on the Ninja notes for 1 hour after work (I saved the easiest task for last). And boom, that's 4 hours of studying in one day. For the audio I listen to it in the car. Weeks 1-4 say to read 25% of the book each week and all the Ninja notes, so that's roughly 22 pages from the book each day, and 18 pages from the Ninja notes each day. Then weeks 5-7/8 I just cranked MCQ. I personally skipped the rewriting the notes since I kind of do that while reading the ninja notes. Hope this helps.
