Help With Strategy Through August

I have AUD and FAR left. I have taken AUD 3 times, with the most recent being 2 weeks ago. I got a 74 last time and I left my exam feeling just as frustrated as the last time due to the insane SIMs. I don’t feel confident I passed AUD, but I was close last time and it is the CPA exam, so who knows. I lose credits beginning in late August. I am currently studying for FAR and have it scheduled for June 6th. I do not feel confident at all and I am struggling due to the volume of material.
I have used Roger for all of the other sections and have watched lectures/taken notes, then worked a small amount of MC on previous sections each day to keep the concepts fresh. The struggle on FAR is that it takes so long to work through all of the material. My question is this – should I just try to cover as many topics as possible from now until June 6th, or set up a study plan that I am confident will prepare me for a FAR attempt in August? I will likely take my test on the 6th regardless of how prepared I am if for no other reason than to get a feel for the FAR exam under the new format. At this point I feel helpless and that there is no way I can make a legitimate attempt over the next 3 weeks. Did anyone else feel this way about FAR? It just seems impossible to know this material to the point that I knew the other sections. Any encouragement is appreciated, I go back and forth between feeling like I am not smart enough to master FAR and then telling myself that if I can pass the others I can pass FAR too. Thanks everyone.

The actuality is that no one will feel “completely” prepared and confident going into FAR. If you get stuck on a certain concept, don't dwell too much on that specific topic – move on and try to cover as many topics and concepts as you can before the exam date.

    Hi-

As someone who got a 74 on AUD, I feel your pain on that. My fingers are crossed for you. It's such a weird exam. Thought I blew it out of the water and then narrowly missed which was hard to take. Waiting 3+ months to hear it was fun too! But I got it the next time as I hope you do.

As for FAR, I agree with your plan – definitely take it in June. Every time I took FAR I got better at it. (The only problem w/that is that we only get to take it once a quarter and this whole process is time consuming and expensive!) But I felt more comfortable. I would try to get through all you can in the next 3 weeks. Do you have access to Ninja? If you can, I'd suggest pouring though the test bank as much as you can in the final weeks so you really know what areas you may struggle the most and try to tie some of those up. I find I do learn from reading explanations to questions there; many others have said the same. You can pick up information more quickly than doing so many time consuming lessons. Then you can better hone in on areas you may want to go back to the course to review. You may go in and surprise yourself. (FAR is a beast of material, you will not know it all unless you are the small exception which not many of us are). You just have to do the best you can. But definitely take it, and if you make it, great; if you don't, you will be that much more prepared to do a re-take in July.

    Best of luck!
