A little bit about me, MBA, intermediate accounting course/ cost accounting course during MBA; Very limited individual taxation working experience. No other experience. And English is my second language.

I have taken BEC twice, I didn’t pass, 63, 64. I barely prepared at 1st time, all based on my MBA courses, the second time, I really studied, but seems no outcome at all, which really makes me rethink about my whole strategy.

I know everyone has different blocks during this process, my situation is, I can handle 80% of knowledge when I review (listen to Becker lecture, reading books), but I only can have 50%-60% outcome, mathematically, it makes sense to me, 70%-80% of the knowledge I learn result a solid outcome. My question is how to break that 20% barrier, either from the learning process, or maximum my outcome.

As I mentioned, English is my second language, so I do need longer time to absorb knowledge. And my memory isn’t good enough for the exam, I have to understand the topic to answer questions. Base on my previous study experience, I didn’t have this discounted outcome problem, either I understood, or I didn’t understand. I have no idea what cause current situation. I wonder anyone experience the similar difficulty? Any suggestion? Thanks a lot~

How long did you study, was it 20 hours per week for 6 weeks or 3 hours per week for a month? How many MCQ did you do, etc.

Many people here recommend doing 3,000 to 5,000 Ninja MCQs.

    FAR: (05/24/16) | (07/15/16) | (10/22/16)
    AUD: (09/07/16) | (11/29/16) |
    BEC: TBD
    REG: TBD

@mla11692, I have studied BEC 100 hours+, did all Becker review questions, some of them multiple times, I assume, about 1200 questions. This is why I need help.

You certainly write well for a non-native speaker! For what it's worth I foud BEC the most time consuming and frustrating to study for.

I would try a different test bankNINJA. I'd say Gleim too, but I think you have to buy the whole course. Those brainscape NINJA flashcards are worth the price. See the threads here about COSO.

I think you've answered your own questions. 100+ hours and 1200 questions may be enough for some but by no means all people. I'd aim for 150 hours and 3,000+ MCQ (for your next attempt, not cumulatively). Some of us simply need more study time than others.
