Andyred04ParticipantDepends on the testing center. Most do not but I've heard of some that do. If you let them know of your vision disability they may make an exception.

monikerncParticipantYes as of april 27, prometric has a new guideline from aicpa to provide a handheld to all who ask for one for the cpa exam. The guy looked it up when i called in advance of my may 23 exam. I got one, no problem and it is so much easier to use. I was also provided two kleenexes which i had to turn back in when i left.

June2016ParticipantThanks for that info moniker I will call my testing center to confirm also. It is is so much easier for me to use handheld calculators while working on problems.

monikerncParticipantYa and my test center said i could have used my own ear plugs – not ear buds but in-ear plugs. Not sure if that is every center. Wish i had known that before.

monikerncParticipanti do not have a link. the guy at my test center looked up some client directive email, or something like that, while i was on the phone. i do however have a March 30 email from NASBA in response to my BEC survey comments that says:
“Dear Candidate:
It has come to our attention in reading your comments in the survey at the end of the exam that you had difficulty with the calculator. Please be advised that in the future if you should experience any issues with the on-screen calculator you may request to use one of Prometric’s hand-held calculators available at the test center. Personal calculators are not permitted.”
To be clear, though, I asked for a calculator for REG during check in and did not have to wait until I had trouble with onscreen calculator to get one. You do have to request one – they do not offer them. Someone else on here mentioned the April 27 date so I think something was sent out to Prometric for clarification across testing centers in April.
This survey I asked for real paper and a pencil to use but I don't think that will happen.

AnonymousInactiveI have always used my own earplugs, that was something I read on here before. To be safe keep them in the sealed wrapper until they tell you to open them.
