Thanks for taking your time to read my post. Here is my situation: I am graduating in May 2016 with 144 units (3.6 GPA – Honors) and only need to take 6 more units to meet the Ethics requirements. Then, my 150 units will be completed. I am not working, which is very nice considering the difficulty of the Exam. However, I plan to start working at a small Tax Firm (family friend is a CPA) after completing the Exam or try to get on with large public accounting firm if I am feeling brave.

    Here is my plan:

    1. Start studying for the Exam immediately after graduation. Order Becker material and use Ninja MCQ etc and start studying June 1st. I plan on taking FAR bc I have taken Intermediate 1, 2, 3, and Advanced and did very well. The material is also fresh. However, I have not taken GOVT/Nonprofit so I am a little concerned. Basically, just study my ass off for FAR and hope to pass it. Should I take a summer ethics class or just focus completely on FAR?

    2. Study and take AUD because it is supposed to be somewhat related with FAR.

    3. Study and take REG. I’ve taken Personal and Corp Tax and Bus Law.

    4. Study and take BEC. I did very well in all business courses. (hopefully all 4 parts passed by 2017 changes)

    5. Pass Ethics Exam.

    6. Start working for a firm and take last 2 classes for Ethics. Complete 1 year experience and become certified. Then, transfer to a large firm and get more experience or private if lucky.

How does my plan sound to you – specifically starting to study in June with FAR?

Also, I do not want to put myself under too much pressure and burn out. I am 30 years old, single, and no family obligations yet. Any feedback is greatly appreciated. Thanks for your time and goodluck with your studies!

Additionally, how soon could I take the Exam after graduating in May? I know I have to submit official transcripts and other paperwork to the AICPA and/or my State Board. Thanks!
