Getting a LOWER score

Just curious. I’ve taken three of the sections multiple times now and I’ve consistently gotten higher scores each time I took them. Went from 60 to 66 to 77 for REG. But I am wondering- has anyone gotten a substantially lower score than a previous one? All of the lower scores that I’ve seen went from 72s to 71s but did anyone have a huge drop in score? I feel like that’s going to happen to me this time around…

I guess it depends on what you think a huge drop is. I got a 70 on AUD on my first go around and my second attempt I got a 66. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

    BEC: 7/31/16 (Awaiting Results)
    AUD: 9/8/16
    REG: 10/22/16
    FAR: 12/3/16

    Yep!! REG. I got a 74 and then a 68.

Felt AWESOME. Not! So much is dependent on your TBS questions.

FAR: 65 (still drying my tears) 2nd attempt: 7/2016
BEC: 81 5/2016 (WOO FIRST PASS!)
    REG: 5/2016
    AUD: 8/2016

I feel like I am in that same boat right now with AUD. I made a 74 in Q1 and then studied my butt off for my retake in April. MCQ went well just like Q1 but the SIMS were insane. I remember feeling just as frustrated as I was in Q1, but it seems most people thought the SIMS were really tough so maybe I have a chance. I feel like I could get a 77 just as easily as a 72.

I got 72 on AUD last time. I feel like I will pull something close to that again. But I think my score is going to plummet for BEC. I honestly don't think I knew a thing on the whole exam. The questions came out of nowhere… I got a 71 last time, I wouldn't be surprised if I see a huge drop there. But I will be devastated if AUD drops. I felt it was consistent with the 72 exam, but you really never know with this ambiguous grading. This wait is unbearable.

Just found out this morning I went from a 74 in Audit to a 69. So that's fun.

Waiting on BEC still.. FAR expires in August. Baby coming in September. Really don't know if I can devote the energy to this anymore. I started studying in May 2016 and I'm still not done. I'm in my 20s – no public experience but I still manage to pull in 70k a year, which is high for my geographic area. So is it really worth it to torture myself?

@jdub DO IT! I've been working on this thing for 4 years and I'm $10,000 into it between the 2 sets of books and all the fees to sit. Stay at it! I know exactly how you feel. I said if I failed 3 I was going to throw in the towel too since AUD expires for me in Oct. YOU CAN DO IT! Maybe try switching courses? Fingers crossed for you for BEC and congrats on the baby!!

I just passed FAR and REG. I triple dipped so I get BEC (which had expired – again THANKS score delay TWICE) tomorrow. If I didn't pass, that's fine. It's easy to study for! I was just hoping for 2 of 3.

FAR: 65 (still drying my tears) 2nd attempt: 7/2016
BEC: 81 5/2016 (WOO FIRST PASS!)
    REG: 5/2016
    AUD: 8/2016

Just got a 76 on AUD. So far with REG and AUD, my grades have gone up. BEC may be the only one where my grade drops. I will find out tomorrow.

Really sorry to hear that @jdub. I've considered quitting many times and every day I ask myself the “do I really need to do this?” question. I make a good salary without it and I'm also in my 20s. I would like to devote my time to actually living and enjoying my life. The thing that keeps me going is knowing that I can never truly be happy or satisfied with my life if I don't have the CPA designation under my belt. I've always been the person who aims for the top. It would be a mental warfare for me everyday to know that I never accomplished my goal. I can't imagine trying to study with a newborn though. I wish you all the best in the world. Here's to hoping we both pass BEC tomorrow!

I have the exact experience you are looking for, although the timing should be considered.

    May 2017 – I got a 73 on FAR.
    March 2018 – I dropped to 60 on FAR.
    June 2018 – Passed FAR with a 78.

Just depends on how you feel the day of the exam.
