    Hi All,

I am taking the CPA exam these next few months. I took BEC in January and passed. I took REG in February and failed (I got a 73). I’m taking Rogers, and I have using NINJA Notes and MCQ.

I looked at my score report, and I did comparable on almost part on the multiple choice except Ethics/Professional Responsibilities. I did comparable to passing candidates on the MPC in general, but did weaker on Simulations.

Does anyone have any general tips for preparing for simulations? I am doing well on the MPC even now in practice – getting at least 80-85%. With SIMS, its just hit or miss.

Any tips/advice for those that have passed or are currently studying would be helpful.

cpa2be415, what was your average before taking the exam? Were you only working with Roger's test bank before the exam? I heard Gleim's mega test bank is great for Reg for both simulations and MC.

@ Martin: my average before the exam was about 75-80 on the MPC and the SIMS. I have only used Rogers' test bank – his lectures and notes are pretty good. The issue for me was that the SIMS just seemed really unfamiliar when I took them compared to the ones from Rogers. The concepts were the same, and the research tasks seems straightforward, but the tasks required were a little different, depending on the question.

I heard that Roger's test bank is a bit easier than other test banks since it does not use past released questions. Maybe you might benefit from Ninja questions since they are harder. I would say to go with Gleim's but they are kind of expensive.

Has anyone used Becker for Reg? I am interested to hear how the Becker SIMs compare to what they were tested on.

C.P.A the third, im using becker and I heard from other test takers that they are not comparable (becker easier). The only ones comparable are the gleim simulations. I'm just going to spend the 249.00, and that's it. I can't afford to fail Reg.

I used becker only when i failed REG the first time. Was still kind of new to the learning curve and what/how to study for the tests and did not put enough time in. Taking it again next week, with becker lectures/all homework done first minus sims, and now about 1900 mcq's in with Ninja.

Probably going to do a mix of both Ninja sims and go back and do some becker sims, seems like they both have levels of difficulties. One sim i got on the test was almost identical to a ninja AND becker sim, so that at least is a bit comforting.

Only so much you can do to prepare for the sims, besides getting exposure to as many as you can before exam day.

@martin Had an open spot next week and closer to my house, so i pushed it back. i think itll be well worth the 35 dollar reschedule fee. Good luck to you too, how are the ninja mcq's for you now?

itsanaccrualworld, I spent a lot of time on the tax chapters and Ethics, now Im almost done with Business law. I should be done with Business Law by 4/20, and I will have at least 50 days for final review (taking it 6/09). I know is a long time for final review (almost 2 months) but this is my last part, and I just have to pass it on my second try (54 on first 3 weeks of studying). I will probably get ninja after 4/20 and then Gleim for the simulations. As mentioned before, I think Reg is like FAR, but with only 7 chapters instead of 10.
