Hey! The NINJAs are giving away 3 pair of Powerbeats 2 Wireless earbuds – your choice of color.

In the video, I said that they were $200-$300, but they’re actually $150-ish (the mall walker distracted me, I think and I was thinking of the over-the-ear headphones). SO … I’ll give away 3 pair instead of 1.

To Enter: Post your best advice or “tip” for anything CPA Exam or accounting related…it can be CPA Exam, Busy Season, Resume, Big 4, Interview, Getting Hired/Fired, etc. Please label your tip.

    Example:

[CPA Exam Tip]: Always take the 1pm exam – never the 8am. You’ll have more time to study and there’s no risk of oversleeping

    or

[Big 4 Tip]: During networking events – don’t be the dude throwing back the beers. Nurse it. You can pound beers later when it won’t matter if you make a fool out of yourself.

    etc.

**Please do NOT post something like “buy company ____ and you’ll pass” … that’s spam, not a tip***

(Unless it’s NINJA – then NINJA spam is always welcome, encouraged, and appreciated.)

Who Wins? On Friday (1/29 – deadline to enter is 12pm Eastern), I will randomly pick three posters from this thread. I’ll use the RANDBETWEEN function in excel to pick the post(s).

No purchase required to enter…void where prohibited…must be 18 to win, etc.

I will also toss in a NINJA Audio of the winners’ choice – since it goes so well with the earbuds 🙂

One entry per person, please 🙂

[CPA Exam Tip]: Do many multiple choice questions and write out the answers. Then rewrite. Then rewrite them again.

    [CPA/LIFE Tip]

The CPA is just a test, there will always be more work to do. Enjoy the fun things, family and friends.

[Interview Tips] Try to research your interviewers before hand and have some personal questions lined up to make it more of a discussion instead (background, education, hobbies etc), along with some questions ready regarding the company and position (outlook, day to day, etc). One question that I always ask in an interview is why the position is open and what the turnover in the department has been in the recent years. The other tips are be honest and genuine in your answers to an questions asked, or that you are asking the interviewer(s).

    [Exam Tips]

I find that scheduling on Saturday afternoon works best. I get to sleep late and still have time to drink a pot of coffee and a monster before taking the test.

[Big 4 Tip] Take the time to build relationships with your clients. If your only interaction is to send them an email anytime you need something, you are doing it wrong!

[CPA Exam Study Tips]: After studying each chapter make your own notes and rewrite them several times. Do mcq's as often as you can. Also buy the ninja audio! Made a huge difference in my exam scores!

[CPA Exam Tip]: I recommend not getting all four exam NTS codes at once. You never know what could happen and many people don't feel prepared enough in 6 months to take all four exams (especially if working full-time). I recommend getting 2 at a time. And the bonus in this is that even though you have to pay $75 application fee to resign up, you don't have to cram and rush to get all 4 exams done in 6 months.

[CPA Study Tip] Do not spend more than 30 minutes preparing for the WC portion of BEC. It is a meager 15% of the grade, machines grade it so just ensure proper grammar and adequate buzzwords. Then get back on to MCQ's.

[CPA Exam Tip]: It is best to crunch out as many Ninja MCQS as possible before taking the exam. Every question can at least teach one you one concept with some questions teaching you more then one. I think the Ninja MCQS were the best supplement for studying all parts!

Dedicate dedicate dedicate a specific amount of time, any amount of time, to studying on a daily basis…..even if it's for just 5 minutes.

(CPA EXAM TIP):Schedule a time to relax and not think about the CPA exam weekly. It will help you not to get burned out. I usually take Saturday evenings off and enjoy dinner/drinks. Ironically, It recharges my brain a bit while killing brain cells.

(CPA exam tip) Do as many MCQ's as you possibly can and write detailed notes so you can review once testing date gets closer.

[CPA Exam Tip]: If you have earned the required 150 hours to sit for the CPA exam, sit for the CPA first then earn the MBA or MA. This CPA certification couple with Big Four experience is more valuable in the field of accounting and auditing versus graduating with the MBA or MA in Accounting alone.

[CPA Exam Tip]: When you find any excuse not to study, think and say to yourself “Just f*cking do it!”. It never gets easier unless you progress through it. Think about your driveway in a snowstorm. It isn't getting done unless you do it, part by part, little by little.

Greatest advice. That's all it is. Don't think. Just do.

(CPA EXAM TIP): don't take more than a week break between tests and just move on to the next part. You may be 99% sure that you failed but might end up passing. You never know with these tests.
