Hey! The NINJAs are giving away 3 pair of Powerbeats 2 Wireless earbuds – your choice of color.

In the video, I said that they were $200-$300, but they’re actually $150-ish (the mall walker distracted me, I think and I was thinking of the over-the-ear headphones). SO … I’ll give away 3 pair instead of 1.

To Enter: Post your best advice or “tip” for anything CPA Exam or accounting related…it can be CPA Exam, Busy Season, Resume, Big 4, Interview, Getting Hired/Fired, etc. Please label your tip.

    Example:

[CPA Exam Tip]: Always take the 1pm exam – never the 8am. You’ll have more time to study and there’s no risk of oversleeping

    or

[Big 4 Tip]: During networking events – don’t be the dude throwing back the beers. Nurse it. You can pound beers later when it won’t matter if you make a fool out of yourself.

    etc.

**Please do NOT post something like “buy company ____ and you’ll pass” … that’s spam, not a tip***

(Unless it’s NINJA – then NINJA spam is always welcome, encouraged, and appreciated.)

Who Wins? On Friday (1/29 – deadline to enter is 12pm Eastern), I will randomly pick three posters from this thread. I’ll use the RANDBETWEEN function in excel to pick the post(s).

No purchase required to enter…void where prohibited…must be 18 to win, etc.

I will also toss in a NINJA Audio of the winners’ choice – since it goes so well with the earbuds 🙂

One entry per person, please 🙂

[CPA Exam Tip] If you don't know the answer to a question, use the elimination method and cross out the ones you know are incorrect (there will always be one). Then mark a response based on your *educated* guess. Also, utilize the flag things on the screen. Sometimes you just have to check your answer more than twice. Oh, and don't forget to pray! 😉

CPA Advice – repetition is key. Going through all of the material as many times as possible helps make the information stick!

[CPA Exam Study Tip]: Do not drink and do MCQs…you're guaranteed get distracted and not focus on the actual questions at hand resulting in some terribly bad scores. I'm really serious about this…lol. Goes for the exam too, no shots to get rid of the nerves!

[CPA EXAM TIP] Don't procrastinate and keep pushing off your exam! This will cause you to forget things you studied at the beginning and will require way more review before the exam. Only push back if you REALLY feel like you are not prepared.

[Interview Tip] – Be personable and show the interviewer you are a person, not bullet points from your resume. Most interviewers are judging to see if you are able to get along with people and communicate clearly.

[CPA Exam Study Tip] Passed all first time with Ninja! My key was, as so many mentioned, constant multiple choice. And for each one I missed I would take notes on it. Those specific notes were great for a cram right before the test since they focused on my weaker areas.

[Study Tip] Do as many MCQ's as possible. If you get it wrong write out the correct answer in a way that makes sense to you. After your done for the night, type or rewrite your incorrect response understandings. Always make sure you know why you got it wrong – if it still doesn't make sense – ask Jeff! (He really does respond)

[Interview Tip] Treat it like just a normal conversation with a friend. I have learned that so much of who is hired is based on how they will inter-personally get along with everyone else within the firm. Most of what you need to excel at, once hired, will be learned on the job. So be cool, be chill, and let em know how awesome you are.

[CPA Exam Study Tip]: It's good to make condensed note sheets so that you can quickly go over the most important areas of the exam without having to flip through lots of pages of notes in a book or composition.

[CPA Exam Tip]: Try to get all the exams done earlier in your career. As you move up the ranks, you are given more responsibilities. Also, life outside of work is happening i.e. significant other, kids, hobbies, and etc.

[CPA Exam Tip]: Try to take your AUD, FAR, and REG exams when the suckers in public accounting are working a ton i.e. January, February, and April. I suspect that the curve wouldn't be as high for a passing score.

[CPA Exam Tip]: Don't be like me! Make studying your life and pass on the first or second try rather than drag it out years because you put off studying to do other things.

    BEC - 72, 70, 76 --> Lost Credit

Don't push your test back, unless really necessary. I hear of too many people push back their tests over and over again. They are either mentally psyching themselves out, or allowed themselves to skimp on studying. Set a date, make it your goal to be ready, and make it happen. Don't give yourself excuses for not being ready and don't doubt yourself. If you put the time in, you'll be ready. Be ready to dedicate yourself to passing the exam, once you've put the time in, confidence is key. Obviously work can get in the way, but don't let other things distract you from your goal.
