Hey! The NINJAs are giving away 3 pair of Powerbeats 2 Wireless earbuds – your choice of color.

In the video, I said that they were $200-$300, but they’re actually $150-ish (the mall walker distracted me, I think and I was thinking of the over-the-ear headphones). SO … I’ll give away 3 pair instead of 1.

To Enter: Post your best advice or “tip” for anything CPA Exam or accounting related…it can be CPA Exam, Busy Season, Resume, Big 4, Interview, Getting Hired/Fired, etc. Please label your tip.

    Example:

[CPA Exam Tip]: Always take the 1pm exam – never the 8am. You’ll have more time to study and there’s no risk of oversleeping

    or

[Big 4 Tip]: During networking events – don’t be the dude throwing back the beers. Nurse it. You can pound beers later when it won’t matter if you make a fool out of yourself.

    etc.

**Please do NOT post something like “buy company ____ and you’ll pass” … that’s spam, not a tip***

(Unless it’s NINJA – then NINJA spam is always welcome, encouraged, and appreciated.)

Who Wins? On Friday (1/29 – deadline to enter is 12pm Eastern), I will randomly pick three posters from this thread. I’ll use the RANDBETWEEN function in excel to pick the post(s).

No purchase required to enter…void where prohibited…must be 18 to win, etc.

I will also toss in a NINJA Audio of the winners’ choice – since it goes so well with the earbuds 🙂

One entry per person, please 🙂

[CPA Exam Tip]: When you're tired, take a short nap. If you're tired and trying to study, you're not going to retain any information. Give your mind a short (10-15 break), don't get crazy and lose an entire day!

[CPA Study Tip]: This is my personal experience: Whenever I have a tough time understanding a concept, I will switch to youtube and look for Allen Mursau's videos. He is really good at what he explains. Also, it's always better to have some extra knowledge on topics like bonds, pensions, which really are hard to understand for me.

While at a networking event, there should be a 2 alcoholic beverage maximum. If you don't drink alcohol, order a nonalcoholic beverage that looks like a cocktail.

While at a networking event, always hold your beverage in your left hand! Nobody like a cold wet handshake.

[CPA Study Tip]: Turn off your cell phone and get it out of your sight! Those few minutes you read a text or check Facebook add up to hours of wasted studying time.

    General Advice:

A failed exam is still an accomplishment if you tried your best. Those hours spent studying are not a waste of time if you are able to pick yourself back up and keep at it. This test is as much a test of perseverance as it is a test of knowledge. Disappointment is okay–it's how you handle it that makes a difference.

[CPA Exam Tip]: I am NOT a morning person. The last thing I want to be doing before my exam is rushing around trying to get ready on time. I also work a full time job in accounting. I always take the Monday 12pm or 1pm exam. This way I have all weekend to do any final practice tests, get any work related nonsense out of my head, and get myself to the testing location without having a nervous breakdown (jk). I also do something that makes me happy the morning of the exam, like watch a favorite funny movie, sing and dance around while getting ready, and or listen to fun and positive music in the car on the way to the exam. This helps me clear my mind of any doubts and puts me in a happy positive frame of mind going into the exam. I have found that I do much better on exams when I am in a good/positive mood, it makes me more confident and I tend to second guess myself less.

[CPA Exam Tip]: For any candidate with a sports mentality and has failed the exams numerous times: “The number of losses won't make history, however winning four times will!” Just do it!

[CPA Exam Tip]: Focus on your weaknesses. I noticed that when I started studying for the FAR section, I was able to understand most of the material because I learned it through classes at school or at internships. However, I never learned about Governmental or not for profit accounting because I had no experience in those fields and there were no classes being offered at my school. Therefore, I spent a lot of my time on those subjects and now I am able to answer a good amount of the questions I receive through MCQ's and TBS. So I would recommend to spend extra time on whatever subjects you need to learn and you will eventually learn them and master them 🙂

[CPA Exam Tip] Have a plan of attack for the test before you go into it. Meaning, know about how much time you want to allocate to each testlet. These tests are as much about time management as they are about knowing the material. FAR, for example, seems hard enough, but it is significantly harder if you run out of time to do your simulations. Every point counts so it's a good idea to make sure you have enough time to truly focus on the questions that “count more” in the grand scheme of things.

    [CPA Exam Tip]

1- To gain time in the exam for every testlets work the short questions first then turnaround to work the most long questions that is how you can manage your time

2- Exam always concentrate on how you understand the concept not on how you can remember the rolls

3- Study Tip : It's depend on yourself , When you can solve the most difficult Questions , so you are ready to go to test

My Experience , read the book 2 times , Watch the Video 3 Times , And solve any available Questions 2 Times , the

more you solve questions the more Probabilities you can pass

Finally Prepare your moral for exam day , like you should trust you capabilities to Pass

Using Multiple Test Banks is like Dating Multiple Women at the same time and is actually recommended. The only difference is that you won't get into trouble as compared to dating Multiple women at the same time.

    CPA Exam Tip:

Have your significant other drive you to the test site. They're the perfect person to calm your anxiety right before and give you a final boost of confidence. As a bonus, they can take you out for a celebratory (and liquor-filled) lunch/dinner after!
