Hello All!
I passed my last and final exam section today (Reg with a 78). I started the long unbearable process last November and honestly never thought I would be able to say “I’M DONE!” and I still can’t believe it.
A little background: I’ve used solely Becker for all of my sections; no other materials. I will admit, Becker is amazing for the Multiple Choice and their book does an outstanding job of focusing on the important areas of the tests. However, when it comes to sims, it is not very helpful at all seeing as they don’t give and DRS sims for practice and the sims seem to be much easier than the one on the exams. However, if you concentrate on the book and learn that material, it is very possible to do just enough on the sims in the exam to get the pass. Also, during the exam, always take a deep breath on sims and don’t get overwhelmed.
I wanted to post this for anyone who needs a little extra motivation. It might seem like it is impossible to pass these things, but know that the feeling after all of this hard work WILL PAY OFF and will feel amazing. Keep grinding it out. I had to overcome a failing grade of 73 for FAR and it was horrible. I cried for a week straight not knowing how i was going to cope. The only way to cope was to open up the book and start up again. After another week I felt better and pumped to pass that section the following month. Don’t stay down for long. Enjoy your holidays and take some time off, and in January, get back to it! YOU WILL PASS!!!
Just some study tips of what I did with Becker – I had the same review process every exam I took.
First, watch the lectures. Sometimes they are dry and boring, but they have you highlight all the important information you need to know. Do this chapter by chapter (starting with chapter 1).
Second, read that chapter and TAKE NOTES IN A SPIRAL. Takes notes on your own of all the important things in that chapter; this will make it easier for final review weeks when your skimming through your note book for each section instead of flipping through a book — it sucked but this is how i truly captured stuff in my brain.
Third, after taking the notes for the whole chapter, then do the multiple choice questions. Do the MC until you get them ALL correct. For any questions you get wrong, and after looking at the correct answer still feel like it was tricky, WRITE DOWN THAT ENTIRE MC question in your notebook and the answer. It helps to push that topic in your head and really sticks it in there for the future. Seperate your chapter notes from your chapter MC Wrong questions.
Fourth, save the sims for final review week. Do all sims during final review when going over each individual topic for the final time. It will help the info stick a little better.
Last – save at the very least 11 days for final review and take the practice exams within the last 5 days before the test. RELAX ON THE DAY BEFORE THE EXAM, YOU’VE DONE EVERYTHING YOU CAN.
As you can see by my scores, I didn’t blow any of these tests out of the park. I am just like a lot of you who are borderline and just trying your best to get those few extra points. Although it seems like a lot of work, this review process has proved to work.
Good luck everyone on your future exams. YOU GOT THIS!!!
