I’m supposed to take FAR tomorrow morning. I’m not ready for it. This is my retake – I’ve spent three months studying – I can list out the excuses as for why I took so long on the section and all the reasons I’ve stumbled through it but basically, I’m not ready for it and I can’t reschedule.

I’m ready to move on to audit and be done with FAR for a couple months. :'(

You should seriously review as much as you can now until your ready for bed and TAKE it!
You may suprise yourself. Everyone on here has serious doubts the day before. If you really have been studying you should be fine. Either way at this point it could only help.

Just remember…if you quit FAR now and move on, you will forget many things and have to study for it all over again. The past few months will have been pretty much a complete waste. Believe in yourself

Thanks for the encouraging words πŸ™‚

Maybe I can squeeze out a pass if I study really hard. I could also pull an all-nighter LOL. Haven't done that since my junior year in college…

OP , you must go for exam ,it's very usual to think blank before exam day.I had felt same before REG and surprised I could recall everything.
If you have studied for 3 months u must go for exam tomorrow.
    All the best.

I've used this analogy far too often but its appropriate here. Any woman who's had a baby hits a point where she is done, dead, can't even, not happening, even blinking could honestly kill her. And the dr says calmly “one more push” as if THATS even a possibility anymore. But she does…….and its over.

You're there, one more push to a beautiful passing FAR score.

    You are definitely not alone.

I rushed through a reasonable 3-month FAR study plan in two months so I could sit on Friday 3/10. Every page in my Roger book looks like an Easter egg, my MCQ average isn't where I want it to be, and I feel like the odds of recalling topics on demand or effectively working through SIMS are pretty slim. But here I am, using up a week of PTO, parked in the library writing out Ninja notes and working MCQs like my life depends on it. This madness will continue through Wednesday, because Thursday is travel day since the nearest Prometric that had an available seat is 6 hours away (I scheduled in January right after I took REG). I'll probably listen to Bob Monette's Greatest Hits in the car.

I don't think anyone has ever gone into FAR truly feeling like “yeah, I *GOT* this thang!” But some of those people manage to pass. I hope to join them, and I hope you do, too. Good luck.

p.s. Your “f**k the lemons” sig made my day. When I study, I drink water with a couple of frozen lemon slices in it to stay perky. I'm beginning to hate lemons. πŸ™‚

My last FAR failure was so monumental…maybe I'm just reliving that nightmare.

Frozen lemon wedges – now that's a great idea. I usually just put fresh ones in but usually by the time the day is ending, it starts to get bitter – I guess the rind can do this to water. Maybe if I freeze the slices first it'll last longer πŸ™‚

I'm still going right now like the little engine that could, or like Dory, just keep swimming. Just did another refresh on bond issuing. I think I'll spend the rest of the day on not-for-profit and government.

The movie the Wedding Singer is coming to mind constantly when Adam Sandler is singing to Drew Berrymore “Somebody kill me please, somebody kill me please. I'm on my knees, pretty pretty please, kill me. I want to die. Put a bullet in my heaaaaaaaaaaaad”

On the bright side, I took Wednesday off at work so after my doctor appointment (why the hell did I schedule one right after the exam, I have no idea – I bet my blood pressure is going to be through the roof) so I'll have a day of doing nothing πŸ™‚

Freezing helps, but I toss out the lemon carcasses after three or four hours.

I'm in complete denial about my (lack of) knowledge of Govt. That's tomorrow's major task – re-listen to three hours of GOVT lectures and make myself write out JEs from opening to closing budget.

I work in government so I was hoping the GOV'T part would be easier, but since I don't do much with F/S it might as well be Greek. Plus, with the accounting system, when we create PO's or do purchases, all of that JE stuff is done in the background-out of sight, out of mind I suppose.

My last exam I got hammered with Not-For-Profit and had quite a few on the Stmt of Cash Flows. This time around I hit NFP a lot harder, I think I've gone over Gov't a little better. I memorized a lot of the journal entries by making a song. I “made” three songs for this exam. One on Fundamental/Enhancing qualitative characteristics of F/S, one on Gov't JEs and another on goodwill impairment. I think I've got those memorized okay but have absolutely destroyed a few songs probably for life: Megan Trainor's Like I'm Gonna Lose you, Tony Bennett's Fly Me to the Moon and Taylor Swifts I knew You Were Trouble.

I think if I need to retake, I'll probably add a couple more songs to my repertoire because it seems to be working well for those other three topics…

OP – For what it’s worth, FAR was my first exam and I was very nervous. I spent about 3 months preparing for it, so I had a lot riding on a pass. Long story short, I left Prometrics nearly in tears. I even called my mom and was literally crying about how I failed and how I will never be able to pass these exams. Three weeks later I saw a very surprising 79 on my score report. Moral of the story, don’t count yourself out until score release because you just might surprise yourself. Good luck!

It seems that the trend is if you walk out of FAR crying because it was so hard, or if you were extremely nervous you probably passed. And if you walked out feeling on top of the world, you probably flunked. Not quite sure why that is….but I'd venture to say that the CPA is the only professional exam like it. I hate to say this but I knew I was not going to pass FAR before I even sat down. I had no nerves because I wasn't prepared. I did better than I expected though!

Except the journal entries for Govt wide f/s reconciliation JE .most JE are straight forward.Don't fret GOVT as u are working in govt.
