FAR SIMs disaster

Hi guys, I just finished taking far and I need to know if there is any possible chance that I passed. The first testlet was ok not too bad not too easy either. I marked maybe 5 or 6. The second testelet did get harder and I marked 8. The third testelet however was half very easy and half hard. Not sure if that is a bad sign. I was very confident with a lot of them overall. When it was time for the sims I only had 50 minutes left and ended up totally guessing in 4 of them because of my time constraint. They were journal entires so I tried my hardest to make sure the accounts were correct and basically guessed on the number. I believe I got the research correct. I didn’t leave any blank but guessed in a lot of them and was not even confident in the ones I did do except the research. I prepared for the exam the same way I prepared for bec and reg and had passed on the first try. I studied my *** off and came out basically crying because the simulations totally discouraged me. I hear these kind of stories with far a lot and people end up passing but I just don’t know if I can possibly have that chance. Any thoughts?

    AUD: 70, 73, 85!
    BEC: - 81!
    REG: - 75!!!!!
    FAR: -

If you do happen to fail (which I hope you didn't)… you need to leave 2 hours for the sims on your retake. I have 2hrs and 15mns and used every bit of it.

I left one simulation blank and totally screwed up another. Was guessing big time on 2 more. But I had 80 minutes to do the simulations. Had planned for 90 minutes but my little bathroom break took too long. 50 minutes is so little time…..can't imagine.

I was trying to go through the MCQs quickly and was being mindful of the time. I didn't go back and review my answers or anything. I'm just slow with calculation questions. I always have to recheck all my calculations. And there were a couple questions where I got stubborn and spent too long on them.

You'll hear from people who are those whiney A+ students who say they failed a test when there was 1 question they didn't have down pat.

I knew no journal entries besides governmental accounting. 5 of the 7 sims required JE that I didn't have any idea how to do. I still don't understand debits and credits. And I got a 76, it's possible.

    BEC: 85
    REG: 74, 78
    AUD: 86
    FAR: October?

A CPA that doesn't understand debits and credits… scary.

I was more like an A- student.

Letsrun sounds a lot like me when I passed the first time. I also got a 76.

    No offense.

When I passed I had a sense of relief not triumph.

Because I failed AUD and BEC by one point last spring, I lost FAR. Essentially I swapped out REG in May with FAR in 2014.

Anyway–and I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS–I woundup learning how to take FAR doing what I needed to eventually passing AUD and BEC.

In short, don't gamble that you won't need to have a SOLID understanding of why you debit or credit something. Hitting the basics HARD helped me understand the bigger concepts.

That, and I constantly sought to find the connective tissue with the other concepts and exams. I certainly didn't have that mindset in school (yes I was one of those A students; pride went the fall for me apparently haha).

So when I passed the other exams I had a true feeling of accomplishment.
