    Hi guys,

I took FAR in Q2 and got a 55%. Im not surprised with the score because I skipped Leases, Pensions, NFP, EPS, Govt (aka F6-F10 in Becker). I just took it because I had it scheduled and did not want to waste a testing window.

Having said that, I am going to restart my studying. I am taking a break from work and have one month to study full time (!!!). How can I make the most of this time? I want to be thorough as possible but also dont want to waste time with being obsessed with details.

Do you guys have any advice–particularly from those who studied full time? I need to pass this quarter or else I’ll lose BEC. TIA!

    Start from scratch.

I would just slam each MCQ substopic and rewrite (big fan of this method).

Invest in condensed review material, such as ninja notes or Wiley quicknotes (maybe Becker has something similar). These materials are meat and potatoes. Overall if you decide to review everything again (start from scratch) I don't see reading the lectures beneficial due to your time frame.

Can't really comment on SIMs, I didn't study for them. I come from the school of thought of if you study hard enough the information via MCQs/review materials and get through the MCQs fast enough, you should have plenty of time to critically think/knowledge your way through the SIMs.

A month of studying is definitely enough time to pass if you dedicate 6-8 hours a day. The key this time is to get through all the material. I think if you create a good study plan and stick to it, you'll do well. Your other scores show that you are more than capable of passing FAR.

    BEC - TBD
    REG - First take 2/16

I agree start from scratch. I read, write notes, and watch lectures. I also invest in Ninja MCQ and will do MCQ's by topic as I'm going through the content. I do SIMS because I think it really ties it all together, and I get overwhelmed if I don't practice when it comes time for exam. When I've gone through all the material, I rewrite my notes because it refreshes the material and I while I'm doing this I hit MCQ's hard. If I noticed I really am not getting a topic while I'm rewriting notes, I

Thanks everyone! im going to restart the material. How many mcq do you guys usually do everyday? And are they cumulative or are they chapter-specific? Or a little bit of both? sorry for the lame questions–I've passed 3 exams, but im having trouble finding a good study strategy for this section ugh…

I attempted random mcq's, but found it better to go topic by topic after my scores were so terrible. I also had to go back and make sure I knew the materials. I agree with the nailing down the concept before doing mcq's.

If I had to go back and do FAR I would work through the material each chapter at a time doing the full course, and then one day a week I would hammer some cumulative MCQs to keep all the concepts fresh in my mind. Maybe Sundays just do a 3 or 4 hour day, but make it all cumulative MCQs. I still firmly believe the key to passing FAR is massive amounts of MCQs, as well as covering all the topics in your review course. Good luck! So close, don't stop now.

NFP/Gov't accounting seemed (to me) to be easy points on the exam. It's probably the reason why I passed my first attempt, albeit not a high score. Since you took FAR now and saw how NFP/Gov't is on the exam, I imagine you can easily boost you score several points by hammering down on these areas. They don't take long and are not complex. You'll get FAR this time around for sure!

I don't know that's I'd recreate the wheel. I would jump on the half of the material that was skipped originally and continue to stay fresh with the other chapters by circling back and doing MCQ's and the skillbuilder exercises. I passed with Becker and like the course generally, but I had to go outside for Governmental and NFP. I cannot recommend the Bob Monnette videos (they come with a Ninja subscription) highly enough for that purpose.
