Long story short: I took FAR last Saturday, and do not fee like I could pass it. Result will be released next week, so I want to start early plan on my retake review. This is my last part and other parts are expiring in 3 months, so it will be my last shot. I am planning on a 8 week review (I have a full time job) and I use becker. I need advice on how to do the review since I can still recall most the material (but does not mean I am really familiar with those topics). If I redo the videos and mcqs all over, that seems time consuming. Is there a better way to do this or do I need to buy new materials to do more MCQS AND SIMS ? Please help !!!

Just listen to lectures and read only the trouble areas that you recall. Do MCQs over and over again and even implement other reviews if you need to. Becker is detailed enough though so I would do all questions again (reset stats) and focus on the trouble areas. For me, mine was Gov't accounting. I studied Gov't account backwards ad forwards and got it done. Good luck. You can do it.

Becker is extremely detailed, so you need to go over it twice, especially if you have not worked with the material in school.

In another thread, you mentioned that you had only 70 minutes left. Did you only have 70 minutes left for the SIMs?

Roger CPA Review advice to spend 45 minutes on each of the 3 testlets, and save 1 hour 45 minutes for SIMs.
Another member here suggested spending only 30 minutes on the 1st testlet, because it is the easiest one, and allocate 2 hours to the SIMs.

I took FAR for the first time last week also, and I plan to retake it in July.
    1. For the SIMs, I plan to practice solving more SIMs similar to what I saw on the exam.
    2. For the MCQs, there were some topics covered more than other topics, so I plan on working more MCQs pertaining to those topics.
I plan to work on the less covered MCQs also, but I will spend less time on them.

    1. You can try to focus more time doing MCQs and SIMs on topics that were covered more on your exam.
    2. If you don’t have time to watch all of the videos, then you can watch only the videos that were covered more on your exam or where your weaknesses are.

Do you have the Ninja Notes and Audio?

    3. The Ninja notes give a summary of many of the important topics covered in the exam.
Some people recommend re-writing the notes 5 times to help you memorize the information.

    4. The Ninja Audio also covers many of the important topics. You can listen to the audio while you drive to and from work, you can listen to the audio at work, or you can listen to the audio while doing chores. The audio is separated by topics, so you can listen to specific topics on repeat, to help you memorize the material.

Good luck on your studies and your retake!

Wow what a crappy experience. I went through the first 3 testlets no problem (got at least 85% of multiple choice right) and then arrived at the simulations with an hour and a half remaining. I used the entire hour and a half and couldnt finish so I just guessed on 3 whole ones real quick. I did the research one first and it took me almost 20 minutes. Then I misread the directions on the first 2 so had to do those ones twice. I feel pretty confident that I got 4 of the 7 right (90% average and including the research one) however i feel like i got about 25% average on the last 3 that I had to guess. I had so much additional information that becker didnt prepare me for in their practice simulations which overwelmed me and stole most of my spare time away. I hope one of the ones I guessed was a pretest. Does anyone know if all the simulations, excluding the pretest one, are of equal value?

You should rewrite everything in the becker book that you dont know in a big fat notebook. Thats what I do

@Rosco920 @Nessie Thanks for the advice, I do think I need to do more MCQs and pay more attention on my weakness area.

@ sang Yes, I had 70 mins for all sims. I do not think my Sims were very hard, but I spent too much time on MCQs, especially the first testlet. For me, 30mins on a testlet is impossible because you really cannot define if the testlet is easy or hard (it depends on if you are familiar with the test contents or not) I usually pay more attention on MCQs just because I thought they are more important than Sims (maybe I was wrong because that was what I did when I took AUD and Reg, but time was never an issue for AUD,at least for me )

For MCQs I plan to get Ninja MCQs, have you used that ?
For SIMSs, I do not think Becker covered a lot, I usually focus on the JEs, that helps me a lot.
And, I do have Wiley Notes (easy to carry ) so I can read it wherever I go.

@Robbyjr92 If you are confident about the ones you did were right, then you should be in a good shape. I do not think every sim equals the same value especially for research question. And I agree that Becker did not prepare all info, I had no idea what were some of my conceptual MCQs talking about.

has anyone experienced this: some MCQs (same topic, different questions) are appear in testlet 1,2 and 3, this has happened for all of my exams. Most of the time, I was not sure with my choice, and they appear in the next testlet again, which makes me really nervous and leads me to think I must be choosing the wrong answers, so they test me over and over again. anyone know anything about it ?

The result was out yesterday, I was prepared to retake my FAR, but when I log in, I found out I got 79! This has certainly surprised me. I was thinking maybe I would got 67 or 75, never dreamed of 79! I do not want to sound crazy, but there were times I see people were so worried about the unfinished Sims or how they did on exam, and finally found out they actually passed it with a relatively higher grade. Well, I am one of them now. Do not hate me for saying this, maybe I got lucky too. I want to thank everyone in this forum, it was really a great place for getting motivations whenever I feel upset, sad, with my study over the last year.

Exams have taught me:Never give up, and dream will not work unless you do.
