Someone here recommended having a long spreadsheet of all Journal entries. So I have been making one as I’m go along with studying and it’s really taking up my time. I write down everyone I see. I am halfway done with my review material and have almost 9 pages of Journal entries on word. Do you think this is helpful or should I ditch it?

I've said it before and I'll say it again. If you are sitting there memorizing journal entries, you are doing it wrong. You need to understand which accounts you are adjusting, which financial statement is changing, and how they all interact with each other. It's like trying to learn all of the phonetic sounds of the alphabet by memorizing lists of words, instead of just learning the letters themselves.

To those of you who struggle with the concepts: have you ever ACTUALLY sat there with journal entries, T accounts, ledgers, and financial statements, and played around with various transactions? (By hand or with software.) I feel like you'll understand much better if you really spend some time recording transactions and getting to know your financial statements. Schools and becker teach this stuff so conceptually and abstractly that they forget to show you what we are actually doing here as accountants.
