FAR is an evil spirit…

And I’m totally convinced it is bringing bad luck to my life rant. This has probably been the worst month and a half of my life. Studying for FAR is hellish enough on it’s own, but I feel like this test is really trying to do me in. One night I walk down to my basement to find half an inch of water from a leaky pipe. Then I had two family members pass away 8 days apart. I have to fly down to Florida for one of the memorial services and my flight gets cancelled for technical difficulties. In order to get to Florida the same day I have to drive to an airport in a different state and also extend my stay an additional day to get back to that airport. On my flight down I lose all my FAR notes on the airplane. On my flight back, the descent was so bad I wanted to kiss the ground when we landed and I’ve never felt like that on a plane before. Then my boyfriend’s family comes to visit and stays at my house for five days and one of them passes their cold on to me. Then the heat and humidity caused the old popcorn ceiling to fall down in my guest bedroom and master bedroom closet. And to top it off, I had to call animal poison control because my dog ate the live cultures of a cheese making kit and the following week got a terrible rash from poison ivy. Needless to say a week out from my originally scheduled test I still had over 25% of the material to cover and paid the $35 to push my test date back cause you know, I want to stretch out the pain for longer. Sigh. Please commiserate and share your stories about FAR being an evil spirit controlled by the devil, aka the AICPA and how it had tried to ruin your life too.

Wow, sorry for all these bad coincidence happening while you prepare for FAR. You will overcome it eventually. I usually like to type my notes so I can have a backup.

Sorry you had to go through all of this, but yeah FAR sucked. I interviewed 6 times during studying for FAR and didn't get one offer. I found out my uncle had cancer. There were no seats in Richmond and I had to drive all the way down to Raleigh. I was close to getting fired from my current job for “performance”, hence the interviews, but it worked out. My wife worked pretty much every day, leaving the house at 5:30 a and coming home at 8:30 p, while I'm in charge of running my 4 year old to daycare and watching him. I also had a terrible cold 2 weeks before FAR, which I had to bring into my anniversary weekend that we planned for months. I neglected and pissed off way too many people trying to get this test in this window (glad its over, win lose or draw).

FAR and BEC are the worst to study for. Think positive, good thoughts and you will get through this.

If you ask nicely, Jeff Elliot wearing his KC Royals Exorcism Jersey Gear and Holy Ninja FAR Book, will help you Exorcise those demons.

FAR is horrific. I was completely overwhelmed by it all. Reading 1200 pages of intermediate accounting material is way too much. At least you have a guest bedroom. I can't imagine having an apartment that big.

FAR is definitely the hardest part of the CPA exam, but for some reason, I see a lot more people failing Audit.

currently in the process of life [feeling like it's] being ruined. It's my last exam, already failed once with a 72, and freedom feels so far away.

🙁 so sorry Kaymay all of that sucks- and FAR especially sucks- however BEC was my “evil juju”- anything and everything that could possibly go wrong did go wrong- including having to buck up and pay the $35 reschedule fee not once but twice!!! I seriously told my husband one night when I thought I might be having a heart attack to make sure he put on my grave stone “Killed by BEC”….

    Hang in there…

and they ask me why I drink...

FAR- 61-next time I'll ask for lube instead of a calculator
REG-75- Never been so happy to see such a low grade
    BEC- 8/11
    AUD- 9/2

Thanks to everyone for replying, I'm glad I'm not alone in this. I knew studying for the exams would be hard, but no one can understand how hard until you actually start. Hopefully we'll all make it out of this alive.
