So I just got back from taking FAR and I do not think it could have gone much worse. I also feel my experience was different than just about everyone else on here. Personally I thought the multiple choice seemed impossible (hoping I got 50% of them correct). Usually that is a good sign that the multiple choice was hard or at least the second testlet but for me the first was significantly more difficult than the second testlet. The sims were not as bad as the multiple choice but still could not have gotten more than 60% of points available. On my third testlet I had a sim that was insane, took me about 40 minutes and had so many different wrinkles in it. Testlets 4 and 5 had a wide variety of sims but the majority seemed fair just difficult. I feel everything that could have been tested on this exam was tested. Has anybody else had a similar experience or did I possibly just get dealt a bad hand on this one?

What did you use for CPA exam preparation?

I used Becker. I would say I studied around 100 hours with 1000-1500 mcq done. I felt Becker sims were similar just less complex. The mcq were similar content to Becker just a little less filler but just as difficult.

@hopeful ,your are the few who did better in SIM than MCQ.You mentioned 60% in SIM,had you saved 20 minutes on insane question ,do you feel you could have done better (70% correct in SIM) ?

@wannaFree, Im not sure that well. I also believe the long one in testlet 3 was worth more points than other sims as it touched on many different topics and had complex calculations. My breakdown by testlet were after T1 3:05 T2 2:20 T3 1:30 T4 0:50 T5 :05 so I am sure I could have spent more time on the last two testlets but I am not sure how helpful it would have been.

I also took FAR yesterday (8/4). There was probably only 10ish MCQs that I had no clue, but overall I didn't find it as awful as I've seen others say. But I wouldn't say they were anywhere near easy. The first sims testlet was really easy for me I probably spent no time at all just cause they were both short. The last testlet had 2 sims I probably made complete guesses on.

Overall I don't have high hopes of getting that 75 just cause I never saw myself as someone who could pass parts on the first try. But I guess we just have to wait and see in September.

Can you please describe how was your Testlet 2 (MCQ ) experience ?

@Hopeful994 How did you do on your other exams? I had a lengthly testlet 3 as well specially 1 SIM in particular that really was a shit ton of docs to review and a multi-step SIM but I ended up nailing the DRS 100% and think I did about 75% on the harder SIM. Was super overwhelmed going into testlet 4 but managed to understand what I was doing and think I got 70% on next 3 SIMS. Then came 5th testlet and there was one SIM that took awhile but so easy I couldn't believe it was on the exam. I felt like I got 75% cumulative on the last testlet SIMs and submitted my test with 9 mins remaining after reviewing them quickly. Would have been nice to have maybe another 30 mins total in exam to thoroughly review the SIms to check for any slip ups, especially since they don't have excel and any particular way to organize any multi-step SIM on the exam.

I also took FAR on 8/4. First teslet MC wasn't too bad, second was significantly more difficult. SIMS…who knows. Even the easier ones (less info and less to answer) I'm not really sure, felt like none of them were straight forward and that they're something that you can't really prepare much for.

@wannaFree I could definitely tell the second testlet MCQ was harder but it didn't seem terrible. Unfortunately the MCQ was pretty much every chapter was covered. I did have a sim which had quite a few chapters rolled into one. Not sure if I got any points there. And I had a sim which I neglected to study before the exam so I may get no points there. All in all it could be a pass or an epic fail.

@cruzer, I am waiting for my scores for BEC and AUD. BEC for me was not bad at all, the mcqs were not easy but were not hard. The sims were very easy and think I got at least 80% of points. AUD was not terrible either just had a couple sims that were out of left field and seemed like for FAR sims than AUD sims.
