I am yet to sit for an exam yet and am unsure exactly how exam dates work. Are there only certain dates in the two month window you can take FAR, similar that of the SAT in high school, or are there multiple dates and you just pick whichever fits your schedule best? I sent my NTS in about a month ago so I should be getting that back shortly.

Hi, There are multiple dates. You can look at Prometric's site and look for test date availability without having an NTS using the following:
https://www.prometric.com/en-us/clients/cpa/Pages/landing.aspx
They do fill up fast but days will come available as people reschedule or cancel a test date they had.

Thanks. Do you know what the FAR Exam Section ID is?

You will get your own section ID on your NTS. You don't need the section ID to just look at available spots though
