Yeah. Im such a slow test taker so I didnt plan on taking any breaks. I couldn't have afforded a break with FAR or BEC. Audit I had more than enough time, but still didnt break. I just chew gum and don't drink much water leading up to the exam. FAR I finished with JUST enough time (barely) and BEC I didnt finish. Then again, theres some people who walk out of FAR an hour early, having taken breaks. So you'll have to see for yourself what kind of test taker you are. If you really have to use the bathroom you should go, otherwise you'll have trouble focusing. Also, if you finish your first testlet in 20 mins and have more than enough time and want a snack or water go for it. But if you're slow like me (I almost contemplated wearing a diaper…kidding not kidding, but mostly kidding..), then I recommend no breaks!

    AUD: 98
    REG: 91
    BEC: 86
    FAR: 83

DONE DONE DONE and DONE all on the first try! It IS possible, just keep on studying!

@cb_6185 Lol at the diaper joke. I'm a slow test taker myself and I hate rushing not just in exams but in all aspects of my life. So I give myself enough time whenever I have to be somewhere or do something. I've never taken any sections of the cpa exam so I'm wondering if I will burnout during my first one. I just started studying but I'm a pretty disciplined person so I'm thinking I can handle taking the exam with no breaks. Thanks!

I wouldn't recommend taking breaks on any of the exams. Unless your bladder is about to explode, just power through it.

The clock doesn't stop during breaks. Make use of every second you got.

    BEC: ☑ x1 attempt(s)
    REG: ☑ x2 ''
    AUD: ☑ x1 ''
    FAR: ☑ x2 ''

    Done!

Yes on breaks, but you have to go in with a plan and watch the clock. I took a break on every exam during testlet 3 and the SIMS. On REG, I took a break even between every testlet because I had a bad headache and felt like crap. I was kind of concerned for FAR and told myself I could take my break before the SIMS as long as I finished the MCQ's in 2 hrs or less. Since I finished them in 90 minutes, I took a 10 or 15 minute break to regain my focus and relax before the SIMS. Bottom line…watch the clock but do what works for you.

    BEC - 88 8/29/15
    REG - 82 11/14/15
    AUD - 83 1/8/16
    FAR - 80 2/29/16

Budget your time during the test..3 booklets of 30 questions each should be alotted at 45 mins for each one…then if you have time say you get done in 2 hours you would be 15 mins ahead of time.

Id take a 5 min break to regroup and then hit the sims..then if you finish with enough time go back over ones youve flagged.

When you gotta go, you gotta go!

Other than that, it's such a personal question. Some people will score better if they take a break to refocus. Other people get in the groove and they're better off pushing straight through, even if they have extra time. What do you do when you study?

Personally, I take a short break between MCQ and SIMS. Hit the head, get a sip of water, stretch, and then back in the seat within five minutes. Ten minutes max.
