I’ve been reading the book and I just got the ninja plus videos, and for the life of me, I still can’t get any of these math questions right on ninja MCQ. I comprehend a decent bit as I’m going along with the videos but I have to guess as I look at the MCQ.

Was anyone else doing really bad with MCQs when they first started?

Oh yea, I think I was between 30-50% when I was starting out. I have been studying FAR for a couple months and I still don't feel really confident. My MCQ rate has gone up to around 80% so if you stick to it, take notes, and read the descriptions of why you got the question wrong you will definitely improve.

    What is aweful?

In my view, doing poorly is desirable. This is when it doesn't count. If you're learning from each question – eventually that will trend upward. Part of this is calibrating how the examiners try to mislead. As they say on the Simpsons – “there's no trick – it's just a simple trick!”.

If doing < 50% then maybe build on concepts more but if it doing in 50s to 60s, then that's just making sausage. Keep at it. Quality – not quantity at this stage.

Do not worry. When I started doing MCQs, I was awful. But after a month of doing them intensely, I started to improve my percentage of correct answers. It just happens gradually and naturally, so do not be hard on yourself.

Yup, join the club. I was very, very bad on the MCQ for FAR. So much so that I just wanted to throw my laptop across the room a few times – never did, but banged on the keyboard a few good times after thinking I had it right, only to get a big orange ‘X – INCORRECT'. Do as many MCQ as you possibly can get your hands on in the time you have to work on them. Learning from what you did wrong on them is the only thing you can do, literally. And you *will* remember your mistakes and why you made them, and you won't repeat them later.

It is okay to do awful on MCQ. When I first started, it was horrible too. You just have to hammer the MCQ as many as you can, learn from your mistake, and eventually you will get it. Good Luck, Far was the only one that I didn‘t pass in one try.

Great! I am not the only one… I was struggling at first too been studying for 2 weeks for FAR while working full time and IT IS TOUGH just trying not to fall asleep!! I'm using Wiley CPAExcel, the lessons are bite size but the book is humongous lol… I was battling with more or less the same thoughts and I decided to keep on going and once I cover more material go back to the parts that I am not doing so well. Another thing that I noticed is that for me it takes time to understand the lesson…. I guess keep reading and practicing and when in doubt look for more information in the internet or even here…
